Source: Official siteWhile I appreciate it's probably for the best in the long run, I'm still sad to see the big man go. He's long been a loyal servant for the club, and will always be a legend - I would dearly have loved for him to succeed, but alas, it was not to be. As the official statement says, the club is in far better condition now than when he joined, and we can thank him for that much, at least. Goodbye Mick - thanks for everything, and all the best for the future

Absolutely agree with everything you've said there, Neko.

Most of the names linked are purely fan-speculation and nothing more; I don't know that there are any 'officially' linked with it as yet. Kinnear, for instance, I think is a definite no-go; he wouldn't take the wages we could offer (allegedly, he was on £400k a year when last with us) and at any rate is a big medical concern with his heart condition as it is.
For my money, we'll be better off going with a manager who's familiar with the conference and has past success there. Again, there are a few names being bandied round, but nothing notable yet.

Surprising decision. It's not as if you are languishing near the bottom of the table and given the resources available its a pretty harsh way to treat a club legend.
There will be no shortage of clubs offering to take him on as a coach I am sure.

I would have dearly loved to have kept him in some role; there's no doubt that he's a good coach and a great spotter of talent - he could've excelled for the club in either of those roles.
As for why he went; agreed, we're not languishing, but the results we've been getting have really been flattering us in relation to our performances. The board want us to get out of the league this season if at all possible, and it just wasn't looking likely under Harford. There've been many games this season where it's been surprising that we've gotten anything from them, and the board and large sections of the fans just weren't happy with that, I guess.
The man will forever be a legend for us, but I guess there's just not enough patience around for him to learn the ropes - though some argued that after 18 months, he really should have at least some idea of tactical substitutions, not playing 4-5-1 at home, motivating players etc.
I'd have liked him to have been given more time, but at the same time I suspect his departure was inevitable - so maybe those few extra months would have simply served to tarnish his reputation further...
