Every time I log in it comes up with this trouble shoot thing or either it doesn't sign in, I logged on on my dad's pc and after 10 minutes it signed in and about 30 of my contacts had been deleted.
Any explanations?

Any explanations? I'd guess it's either a server issue on MSN's part, or your internet's playing silly buggers and has a barely notable connection. In either case, it's taking far too long to sign on because of a poor connection and is giving up (hence the troubleshoot window), and the 'deleted' contacts most likely just haven't been loaded from MSN's servers - it's effectively a 'connection timed out' problem.* Give it a bit of time, and it should sort itself out. *How old-school does that sound?!

Ok, so it's happened again and has lasted a week now and it doesn't look like it is going to work. I tried uninstalling it and then installing it... still nothing.

Might be caused by a conflict with something on your PC; it's possibly worth uninstalling it and installing an older version, to see if that resolves it. Take your pick from here - 8.5, at the top of the list, would be the first I'd go for.

No, you still log in with the same details - it's just an older version of the software.
