Couple of problems with this...
a) Kyle Naughton is not better than Kevin Foley, I saw Naughton at Molineux and he got roasted by Matt Jarvis practically every time Jarvis went at him. Not the best RB outside the Premier League by any stretch.
b) Richard Stearman's inclusion is a bit of a joke IMO especially when he hasn't played for us recently, by which I mean the last ten or so games and he was horribly off form for a couple of the games he played for us. Don't get me wrong, he's a very good player, but I don't quite think he's team of the year worthy.
c) Why did they pick four attacking midfielders? And three wingers in Kightly, Hunt and Gomez at that. Do defensive midfielders not exist in the Championship or something? Karl Henry should have got in, and if not him then Lee Carsley at least.

I think the point about team of the year is that it doesn't have to represent an exact formation.
For example if 4 attacking midfielders had played very well this season and the best perfoming defensive midfielder could only be classed as average, then you aren't going to put an average performer in ahead of an attacking midfielder thats excelled.
FWIW i agree about Stearman and Naughton. Stearman is only average, Naughton has good potential, but I wouldn't say he's deserved a team of the season award.. both Kevin Foley and Angel Rangel would be better shouts at right-back i'd say.
I think they've selected Stearman and Naughton merely for the fact that both Wolves and Sheffield United have done very well this season and they've tried to include them for that basis, rather than personal performances... I think this is also the case for Joe Ledley who seems severly over-rated.. either that or he seems to play extremely average every time he lines up against Saints.

I agree with Sam.
Graham Norton out, Kevin Foley in. Stearman is a bit better than average Rich, one for the future. Stephen Hunt has not been consistent enough for me to make the championship team.

you've clearly not seen enough of naughton. there aren't many, if any, more skillful full backs in the prem. How many full backs do you know that are two footed, have an excellent first touch, are excellent tacklers and passers and are so adpt at taking on players that they can play on either wing?
Foley is possibly a better defender but Naughton is a better player.

Kevin Foley is one - can use both feet, best first touch in the team, excellent tackler, hardly any pass goes astray and joins in with attacks.
