Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey says the club will invest in Premier League experience after Mick McCarthy's men won promotion at Molineux on Saturday.
Moxey insists they have learned a few lessons from their brief period in the top flight five seasons ago.
"We are going into the most competitive and the richest football league and we want to remain there," he told BBC WM.
"The way we do that is by investing in quality players. We didn't do enough of that first time round."
Last time out, Wolves made two ultimately decent signings, Henri Camara, who showed no loyalty but did earn the club a tidy profit, and Jody Craddock, their skipper on Saturday, who has proved a key performer in their time back in the Championship.
But they also made a lot of mistakes, most notably £1.5million misfit Silas, closely followed by free transfer flops Isaac Okoronkwo, Stefan Iversen and Oleg Luzhny.
And McCarthy himself also suffered badly through lack of investment after taking Sunderland up four seasons ago.
But Moxey now insists that owner Steve Morgan will find the cash to add some real Premier League nous to the talented young squad assembled at Molineux.
"We've got the basis of a good young team, and it needs to be supplemented with a number of very experienced, tried and tested players," said Moxey.
"Mick has been in this situation before and experienced what he experienced at Sunderland.
"We went to the Premier League and didn't do enough and we want to make sure this time we do everything we need to do to make our supporters proud once more."
Wolves need just a single point from their final two games the first of them coming fittingly at McCarthy's home town Barnsley on Saturday, to guarantee themselves the Championship title.
