Harry Redknapp has hinted that he might hand a start to one of our Academy players as we kick-off the knockout phase of the UEFA Cup in Ukraine on Thursday night. Eight regulars from our table-topping Under-18 side - defeated just once all season and FA Youth Cup quarter-finalists - have made the trip as we face Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of our last 32 tie.Oscar Jansson, Adam Smith, Calum Butcher, John Bostock, Dean Parrett, Ryan Mason, Andros Townsend and Jon Obika all played in last week's fine FA Youth Cup fifth round win at Plymouth and now find themselves in the first-team squad. "Everyone tells me we've some fantastic prospects," stated Harry at Wednesday night's media briefing at Shakhtar's RSC Olympiyskiy Stadium. "Parrett's been playing well in the youth team and it's a good experience for them. If they are good enough they can stand on their own two feet and play at any level. We'll find out." Harry is without a number of players through unavailability and injury. Roman Pavlyuchenko, Robbie Keane and Vedran Corluka are all ineligible for the UEFA Cup while Aaron Lennon (groin), Ledley King (hamstring), Jermain Defoe (foot), Jamie O'Hara (hip) and Alan Hutton (foot) remain injured. Gareth Bale has also picked up a virus and has not travelled. ;D Harry also revealed that Jonathan Woodgate, Carlo Cudicini, Wilson Palacios and Luka Modric have been rested for this game with such a heavy schedule upon us.
He added: "Lennon has a slight groin problem, I didn't want to risk Modric or Palacios - we've got six games in such a short space of time and it makes it very difficult."The side is still full of experience - Gomes, Chimbonda, Dawson, Huddlestone, Gunter, Jenas, Zokora, Bentley and Giovani dos Santos."

the game vs Hull on Monday night is much more important, think Harry is doing the right thing eben though we could get thrashed with the team we are putting out

Spurs players are paid a ridiculous amount of money and the best team should always play, that is what they are paid for and that is what they should aspire to, competing on all fronts with the determination to win on all fronts.
Shame the Spurs squad is littered with a lot of pussies. Shame is the name.

I think 'Arry has an eye on the bonus for avoiding relegation. A bit simplistic for my liking. For one, a good cup run can instill confidence which could be helpful in PL games. And what is the point of worrying about qualifying for Europe if the games mean nothing. You really have to look at the people running the transfers. We have two summer signings, Corluka and Pavlyuchenko, cup-tied for playing with City and someone else (Spartak?). Then two more strikers signed in January are also unavailable, Defoe because he played for Portsmouth (although injured now) and Keane because he signed a day after the registration deadline. Add the failure to register Taarabt and others because Ramos wanted to make a point in a petty, spiteful way and it's not a very good reflection on the club. So after allowing for injuries and others showing homage to the non-flying Dutchman, who have we got left? I'd say Gomes
Gunter Dawson Chimbonda BAE
Huddlestone Zokora
Bentley Jenas Giovani/Campbell
Bent

Only Jermaine Jenas and Michael Dawson remain from the Tottenham that drew against Arsenal last time out. Dean Parrett make his debut in midfield while Giovani dos Santos made his first start under Harry Redknapp. Tom Huddlestone starts at centre-back, Heurelho Gomes returns in goal and Fraizer Campbell is on his own up front. Shakhtar include four Brazilians in their starting line-up, with Luiz Adriano keeping the bench warm. Gomes, Gunter, Huddlestone, Dawson, Chimbonda, Jenas, Zokora, Parrett, Bentley, Giovani, Campbell. Subs: Jansson, Gilberto, Smith, Bostock, Mason, Obika, Bent.
