Mick McCarthy has revealed Sam Vokes is closing in on only his second Championship start for Wolves this Saturday at Burnley.
Vokes, who is in with a chance of figuring in Wales’ friendly against Poland tonight, has seen his stock rise with four goals in his last six games.
Boss McCarthy admits Vokes is figuring high in his thoughts to partner 20-goal top scorer Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
“He’s done great – really well and he’s definitely getting closer to his start,” he said.
“He had about 70 minutes against Norwich on the Tuesday night. I’m very pleased with him.”

Iwelumo is really lacking confidence and Keogh has never been clinical in front of goal, about time Vokes got a start.

Winger Chris Eagles could return to the Burnley starting line-up after being used as a substitute last week due to the effects of a chest infection.
Left-back Stephen Jordan is back in training after a knee ligament injury, but is not likely to start.
Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is set to play after missing the midweek England U-21 game with a stomach bug.
Neil Collins is available after a ban but Jason Shackell has joined Norwich on loan for the rest of the season.

A sense of deja vu for Wolves fans. Once again you can't handle the pressure, and we're all coming for you; us, Brum and Cardiff. At least you're not letting in West Brom this time ;D.

I don't no where to start. Why are playing two defensive midfielders? We've played both Quashie and Henry in the last three away games and lost and that pair haven't strung a single decent pass forward. Why did we buy Quashie, surely if he wasn't good enough for Birmingham he can't do a job for us. Where the hell was David Jones today? The best passer of the ball in the side, not even in the sixteen. Edwards should have played with either Quashie or Henry in the middle so we can supply the forwards with some service. From the sounds of it SEB and Vokes didn't get a sniff today. George Friend played well against the Blues in the Cup but than was dropped next game. Stephan Ward had another shocker at Left Back, his not even a left back FFS! Whats happened to Wayne Hennessey? apparently some Prem clubs were sniffing around earlier on in the season. He doesn't seem to come off his line and was again at fault for the opening goal, with Ikeme and Murray injured we really have no choice but to play him. The other option being Higgs. Several players are lacking confidence and we're into the crucial stage of the season. Its not looking good at the moment, another vital game on Sunday against Cardiff, problems all over the pitch.

Oh dear POG - you need to get back to winning ways soon, before the nerves really kick in!

Wolves fans on 606 make me chuckle. All saying 'we have been let down again'. Still top, I would rather be there than where we are regardless of our games in hand. Still, perfect time to put that classic picture up

if the Pikeys and Cardiff win their games in hand your out of the promotion places Cardiff have to win four games in a row and have a superior GD, not mentioning they play us on sunday. I'm confident Reading and Blues will carry on struggling while we get back in form and win this division.

;D Here fucking here POG. Look at last nights results those teams that potentially were coming through all fucked up. And what you said above this post is absolutely spot on.
