Christophe Berra has declared his desire to take Wolves into the Premier League – as Alan Gow prepares to face them for Norwich.
Berra, who turned 24 on Saturday, can make his debut against the Canaries tomorrow night, following international clearance to seal his £2.3million move from Hearts.
The former Hearts captain has signed a four-and-a-half year deal.
Berra said: “I’m really excited to be coming to Wolves. It’s a really ambitious club with a lot of good, young players who want to get into the Premier League, and I’m no different.
“I know my first challenge is just to get into the team because they’re top of the league and have been doing well, but it’s a challenge I’m ready for and looking forward to.”
Boss Mick McCarthy said: “He’ll be a really good addition. He’s 6ft 3ins, left footed with a bit of pace and a good defender who reads the ball well and is good in the air.”
Wolves haven’t given up on signing Chelsea defender Michael Mancienne on loan. Any deals have to be completed by 5pm today.
McCarthy said: “We’ve got a good squad of players and that will probably be it now. But you never know. We’ve been trying to get in players who can make us better.
“Mancienne isn’t our decision, but if he’s available I’ll take him.”
Gow, whose move to Wolves broke down over a failed medical, joined the Canaries on loan from Rangers for the rest of the season.

Top class defender. Geat signing even a possible future Scotland captain. I actualy wrote to a certain Aidy Dickhead two seasons ago highlighting the said player as a target. Needless to say nowt was done. So much for Aidys scouting prowess and network. I'm sure GB will agree.

Aidy's scouting prowess and network was never really as good as most thought it was. Arguably our best players in his tenure, came through the YTS in the shape of Young & Bouazza.
