It would appear that Mark Davies has rejected the offer of a new contract and handed in a transfer request. Two and a half years out injured, the club nurses him through and he promptly decides he'd like to leave.

Are you really that surprised Pete ? Loyalty is a word no longer in the lexicon of most footballers. They are prize wankers and mercenaries. van Persie is DEMANDING 80K a week now because 60K just doesn't cut it for the one legged llama. He's an injury prone nob anyway so no great loss (actually that applies to Davies as well ;D).

Would imagine Bolton will come back with something at least as good as that LW, Chris Evans at Bolton has always had a soft spot for Davies. Like Pete says, we nurse him through 2.5 years of injuries and he repays us like this. The guy has no balls if he cant even be bothered to fight for his place. Us fans have been waiting for the day that he came back to full fitness and showed the world what he could do in a Wolves shirt, now I hope he gets crocked again. (after he has left)

He wasn't gonna walk straight back in ahead of Jones or Edwards, so had to be shipped out to get some match practice. Once fully fit, he'd have been in with a shout of playing.

Nigel Pearson on Mark Davies post-match yesterday:
He was very unhappy at the way Mark Davies dealt with this issue. Apparently Davies left it to his Agent to contact us at short notice and say that he would not be playing.(Despite training all week with us with yesterdays game in mind) NP feels that Davies seriously let us down by not personally talking to him.
He went on to say if that is Davies's attitude he would not consider signing him now or at any time in the future. He feels that Davies used us to further his own ends.
Big shame, he was the best player in League 1 by some distance...he thrived in our team and the fans worshipped him. I think he was really benefitting under NP's stewardship in his development and would continue to do so. But if he wants to stand in the centre-circle of a half-empty Reebok with his head looking at the sky as the ball is hoofed from the defenders to the strikers, so be it.

What a fuckwit! He did show glimpses of what he is capable of when he has come off the bench during the season for us. I'm sure he could have pushed for a first team position once fully fit. Lets get rid, we might have an 'ego' issue here as well, if he doesn't want to play for us and rather play for teams who struggling to stay in the prem, that his choice. Get rid of the twat!

Wolves are reluctantly preparing to bid farewell to prodigy Mark Davies with Bolton favourites to clinch a deal worth around £2million.
The 20-year-old midfielder, whose contract expires this summer, has slapped in a transfer request despite Wolves’ offer of a new deal.
Wolves have had bids from Bolton and Leicester, reportedly of £650,000 and £300,000 respectively.
But the Molineux club have already driven the price beyond £1million, with add-ons to the deal believed to be the starting point for negotiations.
Wolves want Davies’ age and potential to be recognised, given the former England under-19s captain was regarded as one of the country’s best in his age group.
There is another Premier League club interested as well as Bolton, but not Wigan, as has been reported.
Davies was recalled from his two-month loan spell at Leicester on Friday and missed their 4-1 win over Huddersfield on Saturday.
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: “We’re in discussions with two clubs over his signature and, regrettably, it appears we will sell Mark in the next couple of days.
“We’ve had him at this club for over 10 years and we always recognised he was an exceptional talent, so to say we’re disappointed with his transfer request is an understatement.
“We’ve offered him a really good three and a half year contract on really good money, but he’s said he wants to leave come what may.
“He’s been injured on and off for over two years and we sent him on loan to a really good club to get matchday experience, which he needs in order for him to come back and compete for a place in our team.
“We’ve had numerous meetings with him, his dad and his agent – we’ve done so much to persuade him to stay, but he wants to leave.”
Asked about the fee, Moxey said: “It’s club policy not to reveal financial details if and when we do deals.”
Davies was regarded as a comparable talent to Robbie Keane coming through Wolves’ Academy.
But McCarthy said: “I’ve seen glimpses of his ability but I think Oldham in an FA Cup replay (16 January 2007) was the last time he really contributed to the first team,” he said.

If he did not have a future or an opportunity to break into the first team why would Mick offer him a new contract? To increase his price tag? I really genuinely believe Mick would have given him an opportunity once fully fit. Anyway, good riddance to the twat, his only gone and joined the fake wanderers in Bolton. Can't wait for Bolton to come down, his gonna get so much stick. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Mark Davies has signed for Premier League Bolton for an undisclosed fee. Davies has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with Bolton after last week handing in a transfer request. The 20-year-old had been out on loan at League One leaders Leicester, but was left out of the Foxes' squad for Saturday's home game with Huddersfield. The highly-rated midfielder had risen through the ranks at Molineux making his first team debut in August 2005. Telford-born Davies was considered a superb prospect when he first broke through from the Wolves Academy four years ago. He was rated as the club's best home-grown product since Robbie Keane by then Wolves Academy director Chris Evans, who is now on the coaching staff at Bolton under manager Gary Megson. Davies did well when handed his first-team chance under Glenn Hoddle at Wolves, becoming almost a regular over the latter half of the 2005/06 season. But a pre-season knee injury just a fortnight after Mick McCarthy took over as manager in July 2006 put his career on hold and he missed all of the 2007/08 campaign. He made a goal-scoring appearance for Wolves in the 3-2 Carling Cup win over Accrington Stanley in August, before going out on loan to Nigel Pearson's Leicester in November.

If he did not have a future or an opportunity to break into the first team why would Mick offer him a new contract? To increase his price tag? Mick is known for loaning out players to regain match fitness, before then putting them back into the squad. Even Matt Murray recently went on loan to Hereford to gain fitness after injury. Are you going to say that was because he wasn't needed any more? Unfortunately he was injured again Mark Davies was sent out on loan to regain match fitness, prior to an end of season push to rejoin the squad. Leicester were seen as a good loan team as they are playing good football at a level just below us. Us fans and the club had extremely high hopes of Mark, however for him to just turn around after 2.5 years of injury and not repay the faith shown by the club is despicable. As for price tag, even though he only had 6 months left on his contract, we would still be entitled to compensation due to his age. With him being an England u18 captain before injury, I am sure that compensation would have been quite high, which has been reflected in the price that Bolton have reputedly paid for him. Extending his contract would not have affected the price by much. I normally wish players good luck with their new club, but this time my feelings are far from generous towards Mark Davies. However, should he remain injury free, I am sure that we will be seeing him in an England shirt one day.
