Kyel Reid has checked in at Wolves believing joining the Championship top dogs will bring out the best in him.
The 21-year-old winger has signed until the end of the season from West Ham.
Reid said: “It’s good to be joining a team at the top of the league, because it brings more pressure and I think that always gets the best out of you. I’m very pleased with the move.
“The boys here are doing very well, they’ve been flying and are four points clear at the top of the league. Hopefully I can come in and do my bit to help them progress.”
Boss Mick McCarthy believes his new addition will add real competition for places.
He said: ““We play with wingers and Kyel is a left-sided winger, who will provide competition for Jarvo and Kights and add strength to the squad. He’s here to compete for a place and we’re delighted to have him.”
Reid only recently left Blackpool on loan and admitted his surprise at leaving Upton Park again so soon.
He said: “I was at Blackpool and went back to West Ham, was in and around the squad travelling to games. I still wasn’t playing, though, so I spoke to the manager who agreed I could go out on loan again.
“They wanted me to go to a club more local to London, but then the phone call came from Wolves and it wasn’t a difficult decision.”
