Wolves have agreed a six-figure transfer fee for Rangers forward Alan Gow and the 26-year-old is now discussing personal terms.
Gow, who made only two appearances for Rangers after his move from Falkirk in June 2007, spent the first half of the season on loan at Blackpool.
"Alan and his representatives have gone to speak to Wolves," Rangers manager Walter Smith told the club's website.
"As long as they reach agreement, the move will be finalised in due course."
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy, a long-standing admirer of Gow, had a bid for the player rejected by Falkirk in January 2007.
But he has followed up his interest with a fresh approach after seeing Gow perform well in the Championship this season, scoring five goals in 17 appearances for the Seasiders.
"Mick McCarthy has done a great job down there," added Smith.
"They are doing well and look to be the favourites to go up to the Premier League as they've got a fair gap at the top of the league now.
"I don't want to pre-empt anything but it certainly looks as though they will get promotion and Alan has the opportunity to join a club on the up. It would be a good move for him."

He did look decent against us a couple of weeks back. I'm suprised Mick has opted for a forward as we have four strikers who are more than capable of scoring goals at this level. I don't see this as a signing for next season if we go up that is.

More of an attacking midfielder than a striker, can play in the middle or on the left. Good attacking option and cover on left wing for Jarvis. I see him as strengthening the squad rather than starting, unless we go... Jarvis - Gow - Henry - Kightly ??

where did that smiley come from? It's put in by 3 question marks. You probably put in 5, so it included that smiley as part of the row.

Alan Gow's transfer from Rangers to Wolves is off after the winger failed a medical, according to Sky Sports News.
Rangers agreed an undisclosed fee with the Championship leaders earlier this week before Gow headed to Molineux for talks.
The 26-year-old accepted Wolves' terms and had been looking forward to playing for Mick McCarthy's side.
However, the deal was subject to a medical and Gow has now failed to prove his fitness.
The talented attacker spent the first half of the season on loan with Blackpool and had caught McCarthy's eye with a series of impressive displays.
Gow joined Rangers from Falkirk in 2007 after previous spells with Clydebank and Airdrie.
