This game has decided before you do anything how good you're going to be. It's the only possible explanation.
I have sold nobody from the current Reading squad other than Lita and Duberry. As for my signings, I've got Insua on loan for a season from Liverpool. I signed Franck Quedrue from Birmingham was was rated far more highly than Ingimarsson.
I also signed Sebastien Larsson, a Premiership player. Yet his average rating is 6.30 or something ridiculous, he's playing like utter crap when he has class. Then there's Prince Buaben, a defensive midfielder who has everything yet doesn't put in a good game for me. Then up front I have Andrius Vellicka. Pace, strength, off the ball all around 14 or 15, finishing 17. Good in the air at 6 ft too.
Add to this players already of Premiership standard or a high Championship standard such as Matejovsky, Doyle, both Hunts, Bikey, Rosenior, Harper, Cisse, Henry on FM at least, Convey, Gunnarsson, Ingimarsson.....you get the picture.
I've tried allowing the first team to settle and get into a rhythm, it's failing miserably. I've tried chopping and changing, letting players know that nobody is safe. It's failing miserably. I've tried moving away from 4-4-2 and mixing things about. It's failing miserably. In recent months I've fallen from 2nd to 11th in no time and nothing seems capable of stopping it.
Realistic? Earlier games were too easy. However, when you consider that I have very little impact in monitoring training and motivating the players, there really is no way such a good squad would be so bad in real life it's gone way too far.
The real Reading team is doing very well at the moment, however I'd rather have the squad I've put together and that's saying a lot. Lets have a bit of realism please.

And there it is, absolutely nothing changes. We're playing Derby away which is quite tough on my game. We're great and deserve our first win in 6. That came from nowhere. What you do as manager seems to mean bugger all on this version.

i just play a 4-1-3-2 formation and make sur emy squad is big enough and have enough versatile players to make up for any injures.
of course that is much easier to do when you are man united ot be fair

I agree to an extent. It is incredibly hard though, dubiously so. My first season as City boss, got relegated... P38, W0, D11, L27. Yet I made some great signings, including a few Brazilian youngsters, again I'd easily choose those over first-teamers now in real life.

Right, I lost in the play-off semi final. 2 goals conceded were a yard offside but that's life. Do I go on to next season or start a new game? I'm thinking start a new one and learn lessons from my rookie game.

My trials and tribulations, continued...
After about my 30th game of the season, things began to click. Due to a mix of a stern defence and the ability to sneak a goal i managed to crawl into playoff contention from mid-table. With 6 games to go i was only 3 points of the playoffs, despite almost the entirity of the squad having lost faith in me, but the disaster! My form collasped for reasons unknown and with only to games left of the season the club went into recievership, even though i was £60,000 under my wage bill
i saw out the season, only for a computering error (the old white screening mentioned before) striking ... meaning i'd need to restart from an earlier point in this game.
i decided to turn this annoyance into and an opportunity. Realising the club would go bankrupt i got rid of the high wage earners Beattie and Speed (£60,000 a week) both of whom had done little throughout the season and changed by tactics to those which had prevously seen my team increase in form after 30 matches.... all seem to go well, i was competing for the Playoffs earlier and united's debt ceased to increase, but yet again, for little reason form abandoned me i was sacked with 3 games to after losing to wednesday (quite right)
Previous to the game i had NEVER been sacked or failed to get SUFC promoted So obviously i question the realism and difficulty of the game.....
i've come to the conclusion that the game is both difficult, in a challenging and geniune way (which i like), but in terms of sheffield united, at least, it is unrealistic. The former is because it is undoubtedly a fiddly game. To be successful within it you need to get you tactics right straight away, including such things as corners, throw-ins etc etc etc, the things which on previous football managers mattered little. The latter because the game fails to take into account uniteds financial position correctly, our relationship with our sister clubs or the level of financial acumen shown by our board in the last couple of years.... as such the idea that you could cut of wage bill (as i did) and yet some how go bankrupt is ridiculous.
However i have started again with the above in mind and it has to be said i'm doing well
I think when you get used to the fiddleness of the game, it becomes less difficult.
