Albion’s Premier League survival hopes have suffered another crushing blow with striker Ishmael Miller ruled out for the rest of the season.
The 21-year-old has been diagnosed with cruciate ligament damage to his knee and will not figure for the rest of the campaign.
Albion had hoped to have the former Manchester City man available after six weeks, as initial tests suggested medial ligament damage.
But a scan conducted in Manchester revealed that the three-goal hitman had suffered much worse damage in his collision with England goalkeeper David James in the 1-1 draw with Portsmouth on Sunday.
Miller’s absence leaves the Baggies with Luke Moore and Roman Bednar as their only fit senior strikers, at least until the opening of the transfer window on January 1.
