Stoke will be without striker Mamady Sidibe who injured his ankle in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Wigan.
Liam Lawrence is out after having an ankle operation, while Tom Soares and Michael Tonge are both cup-tied.
Rotherham have no fresh injury problems ahead of their visit to Stoke's Britannia Stadium.
Leading scorer Rueben Reid (knee) came through Saturday's FA Cup tie at Aldershot unscathed, while striker Ritchie Barker is cup tied.

Stoke first-team coach Mark O'Connor told BBC Radio Stoke:
"It's a huge game. If we win we are in the last eight of the League Cup, which would be a massive achievement.
"When drawn at home we fancy our chances against anyone, another win would build confidence and continue the momentum we've been building.
"We will be mixing the squad. We've got some players who are unlucky to be missing out in the league, so if they play against Rotherham that is no indication that they are lesser players."
Rotherham United manager Mark Robins told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"We are ok. We picked up one or two knocks but everybody should be fit to play some part tomorrow.
"All the players want to play against Stoke. The temptation to make changes is always there, it's a consideration, but it's something I will have to decide on."
