Saints striker Jamie White has given first team coach Jan Poortvliet plenty to think about, after netting yet another quick fire reserve team hat-trick.
Second string coach Mark Wotte was delighted with his side's effort after they pulled off a resounding cup victory against Plymouth Argyle, and feels that White has now put himself in the frame for first team consideration.
The three goal haul marks White's second reserve hat-trick this campaign, following an equally, if not more impressive seven minute 'perfect' hat-trick against Millwall at Staplewood.
Wotte continued "Jamie did it before and he'll do it again, he is knocking on the first team door and this game will give him plenty of motivation".
------------
Good to seeing White doing well, he was training with the first team back in March 2007 and was due to be on the bench for the game away at Wolves (which we won 6-0... saganowski hat-trick ;D ) but got injured, which halted his progress.
He's already played first team football this season, had a great game away at Derby, but gave away a penalty against Blackpool and was dropped...
His reaction from being dropped has been great - 8 goals in 5 games for the reserves (from attacking midfield), so i'm sure we'll see him back in the first team soon.
It's pleasing that we have so many able youngsters ready to step into the first team, this was signified at the weekend too when 17 year old Oscar Gobern was brought on at half time against Preston, 2-0 down and he changed the game for us to win 3-2.
