So it wasn't a bad display from the lads. We certainly didn't look like we were struggling against on form Preston. Our big downfall is when the players get tired we haven't got any depth in the squad (due to injuries and not spending any money on players), and that when we start to suffer.
If we can get some of our players fit, I'm confident that we can at least achieve mid table mediocrity.

Id agree H, we played some lovely football on Saturday and certainly deserved the win. Thought McMahon looked really good, certainly a better option than Hinds and nice to have 2 full backs willing to overlap.
We are desperately short, their really is nothing on the bench that brings anything to the team. I am struggling to see the point in Smith so far, im not knocking him as i havent seen him but why shell out so much in wages for someone on the bench and probably not first choice

He's just another Chelsea reserve that will never see the light of day. I disagree about the fullbacks though. I agree about McMahon I thought he looked quality but Tommy isn't up to the job. He cost us the goal on Sat. He's just not quick enough and he makes a lot of mistakes. I'd love all our players to have his commitment though. I thought Burton reverted to type as well. He looked mardy as fuck!

Is he still there? This is my point though. Chelsea buy up players so no-one else can and then just let them rot in the reserves. I don't doubt that at one time this Jimmy Smith showed signs of talent but he's spent that long being a 3rd team player that he's forgotten what competitive football is.

i think they may have released him...
i dunno about that. youngsters at top clubs tend to be overhype and thus flop as too much was expected of them. i've lost count of the number of "good" youngsters playing in the reserves teams of premier league clubs, that have gained under 21 caps, only to demonstrate in the rest of their career that league 2 was about their level, and always was.

They never really get a chance to prove themselves at a high level though do they. Man Utd seem to be able to make it work by integrating their youngsters into the first team but Chelsea just leave them or send them out to poorer teams (and yes I'm classing us as poor).

Meh The Premiership just bores me now. It was a crisis that Man Utd were 'still looking for their first win of the season'. They'd only played once ffs.
