to getting out of this hellish place.
If MK Dons's performance today was typical of league 1 I don't think we have too much to fear. Lots of possession around midfield but they had very few chances and looked pretty damn shaky.
First day of the season and Fryatt has equaled his scoring record from last season's league campaign. A pretty decent performance. At times we were sensational...Fryatt, Gradel, Dyer, Mattock and Gilbert all running at MK, causing lots and lots of problems. Oakley was a powerful force in midfield. Tunchev was a rock.
At other times, we were very lacklustre and slow, but for half of the match I was very pleased and excited by what I saw.
Henderson 6 - nothing to do
Gilbert 6.5 Tunchev 8 Morrison 7.5 Mattock 7.5
Gradel 8 - very threatening. Why didn't he get a chance sooner!? King 6 - faded in second half Oakley 7 Dyer 7
Fryatt 8.5* Created lots of chances and scored 2. Perhaps should have scored more. MOTM Howard 7 - His usual slow self but his physical presence was missed when he was subbed.
Subs: Dickov 6 The others - not on long enough

We won our first game in 2005 and I thought it would be plain sailing given Huddersfield's performance...
The Foxes should do ok this season though.

I see Fryatt has found his level. Indeed, Fryatt was good at this level in an indifferent Walsall side a few years back. Struggled in the championship, now he is back in league 1 and he's had a good start. He's a confidence player...if things go right for him he's good.

I'm mildly confident though. I don't think any other side in the league really has the players or depth of quality to match Leeds or Leicester...so we really need to live up to expectation. It'll be a long year but top 6 should be the minimal target.

...another 3 points closer and we rock up into 2nd place. Leicester 3 Tranmere 1 Thought we made a bit of a meal of it today. Started crap but got a hold of the game after 15 minutes and cruised into a 2 goal lead. Then we went crap again, Tranmere got one back. Then we were on the rack a bit but scored right at the end when Tranmere left themselves too exposed. Great result and we're 2nd so I don't want to be critical. But there seems plenty that isn't quite right and the games in places are awful...maybe this is just how league 1 and the opposition really are this crap. The main concerns I have at the moment are: - Defensive injuries. Had to play a midfielder at left back. We desperately need cover with Kis, Mattock and Tunchev injured. - We need some other players to chip in with goals and midfield to support the attack more. - We just look such a short team, we need some height and physical strength. Martin 5.5 - sort out that kicking!!! 4 straight out for a throw in. Gilbert 6 - still undecided on him Hobbs 7.5 Morrison 7.5 Dyer 6.5 Gradel 6.5 Oakley 7 King 7.5 Porter 6 Howard 7.5 Fryatt 8* Subs: Adams 6 Dickov 6 3 tough long-distance away games now...Fulham, Cheltenham, Colchester. Will be testing. Any better Mort?

Yeah I guess. It's just a bit disheartening because our pre-season went quite well! This is Leeds though Good win for you though

Agh don't be disheartened, its early days...not a bad result today for you away from home. You'll be up there at the end. Yeah it was a good result. We didn't seem that brilliant but I guess if you have a handful of quality players in your side, it makes all the difference in this league. Tbh, I've seen MK Dons, Stockport and Tranmere now...and none of them have really looked up to much.

We did also lose at home to Southampton last year too. It was also about this time we sacked our first manager too... Not sure what to make of you lot tbh. You just can't be that bad can you? I'm sort of thinking things might turn a bit for you when you can string a couple of half decent results together. But I think mate, you're looking far off a top 6 side at the moment. From what I hear, you were pretty poor today.
