Striker joins Blades' sister club By Chris Burton Last updated: 24th July 2008 Istvan Ferenczi has completed a move to Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros from Barnsley.
The powerful forward enjoyed cult hero status during his time with the Tykes, but has now joined up with a side who share a link with one of their Yorkshire rivals.
Ferencvaros are the sister club of Sheffield United, with the Blades often sending members of their academy to Hungary in order to gain first-team experience.
However, it is a 30-year-old veteran who has become their latest signing, and he is delighted to be there.
Tradition
"There was interest from English and Swedish clubs but I decided to choose Ferencvaros because of its great traditions," he said.
"I want to win promotion with Fradi next May and go for Europe within two years.
"I very nearly signed for Ferencvaros a few years ago and I am happy that I have done so now."
Ferenczi is likely to represent the club's last signing of the summer as the Hungarian transfer window closes on Thursday.
However, there will be a number of fresh faces on show when they get their season underway, with Sheffield United youngsters James Ashmore and Liban Abdi and Trinidad international keeper Jan Micahel-Williams all set to be included among their ranks.
