Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has seen a bid of £5m turned down by Cardiff for young star Aaron Ramsey as have Arsenal. The departure of the 17-year-old appears to be a foregone conclusion this summer but Cardiff are holding out for the best possible deal and with so many interested parties, including Manchester United and Spurs, they are in a position to pick and choose. Reds boss Benitez would like to add Ramsey to his ranks at Anfield but, like the Gunners, the bulk of the money on offer appears to be based on appearances and future success. Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale has said all of the squad are available at the right price but they want a deal which gives them the most cash upfront before they are persuaded to allow the player to leave. He made 21 appearances for Cardiff last season, and has just featured at international level after Wales manager John Toshack brought him into his squad for this week's friendlies in Iceland and Holland. -

*yawn* All that means is nobody gets sold for a song. A season ago even we'd probably have bitten the hand off an offer of £5m - even for Ramsey, but that isn't needed now. He probably will go unfortunately, but not until the offer suits us - rather than some opportunistic Big 4 Club who want to snap up the latest tasty young player who can rot in their reserves! RIP Chris Gunter, frankly!

OI!! whats with the yawn, it wasnt meant as a wind up I was just surprised at Ridsdales statement, saying anyone can leave for the right price, when you have the makings of a good team there. our reserves are better than you, Gunter has still stepped up a level ;D

I tend to presume...! He's being realistic, hardly any clubs can afford to turn down a good bid.... like you won't when Berbatov is sold! Erm, your reserves are not!! C'mon, what's your "reserve squad" Besides hardly the point, first team football is what every decent player wants.

It's based on a reasoned hypothesis old chap! ;D Easier said than done when a business is there to be run... sad and soul-destroyed though that makes me feel. Well no... because it's a Reserve league!! And like I say, whoever is in your reserves I'm pretty certain you couldn't field them in the Championship against us and win!
