Relegated Luton start clear-out

Luton Town have told eight players they are free to leave following their relegation to League Two.

Veterans Don Hutchison and Paul Peschisolido have both been released.

Marlon Beresford, Darren Currie, Paul McVeigh, Alan Goodall, Richard Jackson and long-serving Steve Robinson have all been offered free transfers.

Hatters boss Mick Harford told the club website: "We need to reduce numbers in order for us to introduce new talent when 2020 complete the takeover."

Don't think Mick can keep the likes of Hutchison and Pesch on the payroll, not at this level and given the financial restraints. It's gonna be major tough for the Hatters next season and I hope they can reach the playoffs, but a relegation battle against falling out of the football league may ensue which would be disasterous, given that only last year they competed poorly in the Championship.

he as said the whole squad is up for sale, so looks like complete new players if anybody wants to go

There is not enough quality in the Luton squad and I don't think there will be many takers, apart from teams in the non league.

Dean Brill will get some attention, and I don't think it unreasonable to think Spring and Robinson will get taken either.

Trouble is, quality or not, we have to get rid of those players just to survive financially, never mind the wage cap As I said in another thread, next season's gonna be all about consolidation!

Spurs will buy them as a job lot to strengthen their team ;D
