Oldham lodge complaint over socks Oldham have made an official complaint about referee Darren Drysdale after being forced to change their socks in the defeat at Northampton on Saturday. Chief executive Alan Hardy told BBC Radio Manchester: "The Northampton manager wanted to change the colour of his socks to white. "That clashed with ours which meant we had to play in their claret socks. "To be honest, with royal blue shirts and shorts, it did not look particularly fetching on the pitch." He added: "Once clubs register their colours at the beginning of the season, there's no way they can change them or any combination of the colours. "This was pointed out to the referee but he decided he would let Northampton change the colour of their socks. "When the team sheets were handed in at two o'clock, this was when it came to the referee's notice that Northampton wanted to play in white socks so he told us we had to change. "The team manager protested strongly but obviously the referee was not aware of the regulations which I am disappointed about because, if he had been, it would not have made us look amateurish on the day. "I would hope that in some way referee Darren Drysdale is disciplined because if clubs break the regulations then the clubs are disciplined. It is only right that the same thing should take place with the referees as well."
