news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7327702.stmMixed views on this. Some of my friends from Sixth Form do it a lot, verging on every day. Most of us have tried it once or twice, although I seem to have fallen in with a better crowd in that respect at uni. I am against people doing it truth be told, as one of my friends is well on his way to wasting his three years at uni and leaving with a load of debt and nothing else. One guy already did that with his A-Levels and probably screwed up his chance of fulfilling his ambitions of getting into the fire service as he's just not as fit as he was due to all the smoking and it's made him skint and a mess, although he has been coming out the other side for a year or os. However, this isn't what the debate is about. I ony know one person who was a regular user out of 5 or 6, and then 15 or so dabblers who has had any mental affects, and even that was only a bit of paranoia which dried up the moment she stopped doing it (which she has entirely now). So health wise, I think class C may be about right. You can still mess up your life on it though if you do it too much.

Ah yes, the old 'fall into hell after a couple joints' trip. Idiots. Agreed. From a personal view, the only drugs I've taken are medication when ill and alcohol when going out. No plans whatsoever to take any others. I wouldn't wish illness on people, but can I say I've got any pity for people when they end up in such a state? I'm not sure I can. I do, however, have pity for those around them who also suffer as a cause of watching a loved one slide into oblivion. That being unless it was a close friend/relative who got them onto the drug in the first place.

But back to the issue, just it should remain at the same classification, drugs are about the individual if you ask me. I have tried most things and have always managed to saty away with the exception of booze. So don't play the game if you've got an addictive nature!
Have seen cannabis destroy two of my friends they got the fears if they didn't have it and both are now registered Heroin addicts!

It doesn't neccessarily lead onto harder drugs but it does mees with your head. My ex flatmate's bloke smoked it for years and he was completely paranoid bordering on schitzophrenic. All his mates were the same.

Some studies say it's pretty safe, others say it'll absolutely slaughter you - hard to say what the better bet is.
Truth told, part of me wonders whether legalising and regulating it, plus providing information on the effects (á la alcohol and tobacco) might be a better route. I don't think the effects have been determined fully enough yet though.
