Reading have taken former Aston Villa defender Ulises de la Cruz on trial. The Ecuador international is available on a free transfer after his contract at Villa Park expired over the summer. He is now training with The Royals and he could earn himself a move to The Madejski Stadium. De la Cruz, with four years' Premiership experience under his belt, could be an attractive option to Reading boss Steve Coppell. Coppell has found his summer recruitment plans limited to just Seol Ki-hyeon and Sam Sodje. Is he any good? I seem to remember him being bang average.

He got himself the nickname Useless at Villa Park and looked a bit out of his depth at times. He's not bad, just makes a few mistakes.

He's ok, if you remember him from the world cup for Ecuador, he was very keen to go forward and seemingly not arsed to get back and defend. That kind of sums him up for me, goes missing at the wrong time. Dunno if he's a Premiership player to be honest.
