England once again looked like a Terry Venables team . McClaren you need to get rid of this man otherwise we will not qualify . He has never done it in english football and i think he has too much influence on you .

I think, however, the long and short of it is that we're appaling in front of goal. Someone earlier saidd that Lampard should be dropped - and I don't think it's a bad shout. Stick Hargreaves and Gerrard in the middle, have two wingers and Rooney +1 up front.... Michael Owen, where are you...

wrong way round if you ask me mate.......and just think back over the last 2 odd decades and try and think of any england manager that has got the team to actually play with some balls and passion like venables did. and back then he didnt have anywhere near the class we have at our disposal these days

Downing is very poor for England, but I fear he's McLaren's little pet in the way that Beckham was for Sven. To be honest, I think it would've been a good game to get Becks back on the bench.... what d'you think?

In the meantime, if we get Johnson to earn us some free kicks... I don't think El Tel is the reason we're failing either. The team are underperforming in ways identical to Sven's management, only with less spine. We should've shed the Sven/World Cup hangover by now, so what's the one bit of unpleasantness left behind? Besides, Euro '96 aside, when we did we last reach the semis of a tournament? I'd take Venables as England manager before McClaren any day.

Lennon and Venables are perfectly suited!! They're both overyhyped charlatans who talk aplenty but deliver nothing.
Israel played deep on Saturday, and the only man who showed himself capable of getting behind them was Lennon. So what do they do? Give Lennon the ball and just tell him to take on defenders, and get to the get to the byline as often as possible to cut back dangerous crosses?? Err... no actually, they put him on the wrong side of the field, forcing him to check back on to his stronger foot on every occasion, to deliver far less dangerous crossed from the edge of the area.
McClaren said he'd deliver a system that would maximise our strengths and that wouldn't neccesitate 'square pegs in round holes', what rubbish!!! As soon as Andorra are out of the way, get rid is what I say, whilst the situation is still retrievable.

I've been calling for Lampard to be dropped for a while now, and I'm sick of seeing a centre mid like Gerrard on the right wing, when theres Aaron Lennon in the squad! It's time to drop a few faces, give players chances (especially in friendlies seeing as we have so many) and stop living in Svens shadow!!!
