Once again the BBC fuck up with its choice of 3rd round games.
Come on Liverpool v Arsenal - Man.Utd v Villa.
we can watch all premiership matches every week.
The one bright spot is Tamworth V Norwich.
Whats wrong with Sheff.Wed v Man.City and Birmingham v Newcastle more chance of an upset here.
At least Sky have got Cardiff v Spurs.

Not much wrong with showing either of those matches, it's the only chance the Beeb gets to show an all Premiership game in full so why not take that chance?
Neither Liverpool or the Arse will win the league this year so this represents a major trophy for the two teams, and of course Liverpool are defending their crown.
Man United v Villa - Man Yoo are sustaining a slightly unexpected title challenge at the top of the table and Villa are a much stronger proposition under Martin O' Neill than they have been in many a year. Plus Larsson may well be playing against his old boss.
Don't see why when it gets to the 3rd round stage they have to go for the 'upset' angle, on the whole most upsets take place in the 1st and 2nd rounds

No romance of the cup for you then GT.
What about the money side of things?
A live game at a lower league ground brings in much needed revenue for these clubs. Its not all about the 'big guns'

Yes, I know all about the 'romance of the cup' as you put it (having been on the end of many an upset over the years - Chesterfield in 1997 anyone??) and I know what the money can mean to lower league clubs but at the same time if you want to look at it like that why don't they buy a lottery ticket every week?
I'm just looking at it from the broadcaster's point of view and I think my rationale for the games being shown is pretty much spot on IMO

I do agree that Wendies v Citeh would have been good though, I'd have liked to have seen that

What has buying a lottery ticket got to do with the survival of lower league football ?
The BBC should stop advertising it as 'The Best Cup Competition In The World' if its going to show all premiership clashes at the 3rd round stage.

The BBC should stop advertising it as 'The Best Cup Competition In The World' if its going to show all premiership clashes at the 3rd round stage. Because out of all the lower league clubs, only a few are going to get this 'payday' - it's a lottery as to who they draw and who the broadcasters pick. Maybe it's a muddled analogy but I know what I mean ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Don't forget I'm a lower league supporter too, but I don't see why the BBC should cover all lower league ties. Besides I dare say that if Liverpool were drawn against say Barnet they would have shown that as they are defending champs - they just happen to have drawn Arsenal.

Well I hope the winners of the all premier live games draw each other in the 4th round.
Makes it easy for the BBC to choose their next round game.

You're right of course and I don't mean to be so argumentative on it mate. I agree there could be a bit more balance, personally I wouldn't have gone for Man U v Villa

lol well like I said, I'd have to choose the reigning champs and it so happens that it's all Prem so... Should be a decent enough game, especially if the Scousers lose! ;D Hull v Boro could be a good un I reckon, especially if the Tigers have some new managerial blood by then, a sort of 'East Coast Derby'! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Definately fancy the Tigers.
I used to like Middlesborough and Gibson , but after the Southgate fiasco I hope they get knocked out and get relegated.
