Leeds have agreed a settlement with Chelsea and have dropped a complaint that the Premiership champions tried to poach three of their academy scholars. Leeds chairman Ken Bates accused his former club of breaking youth development rules to sign teenagers Tom Taiwo and Michael Woods. He claimed Chelsea had also tried to persuade a third youngster to sign. Chelsea will examine their procedure for recruiting youth players but are not thought to have admitted liability. The Premier League and the Football Association launched a joint investigation into the issue. In a joint statement, the two governing bodies said they considered the matter closed. ......................................................................................... Well, it's hard to say whether they DID break the rules or not. Yes, they paid Leeds money to close the matter. But then, I can't say I'm impressed by Bates. Deciding that everything was ok now he's been paid some more money? If I was in his shoes and I felt that Chelsea had broken the rules, I'd turn down the cash and want to still carry on the investigation. Let let the FA take action as they see fit, not just accept cash and shut up.
