Teddy Sheringham could be offered the chance to join his son Charlie at Crystal Palace.
The former England international is considering his options after being released by West Ham United at the end of the Premiership season.
The 41-year-old has no plans to retire just yet and his availability has alerted Palace boss Peter Taylor.
Sheringham, whose teenage son is on the Selhurst Park books, is a target for the Championship club, although Taylor admits he may have to shift a player out before he can bring in the veteran forward.
"Everybody knows I admire him," Taylor told the Wimbledon Guardian.
"But if someone does not move from here, then it makes it difficult for me to bring people in.
"Teddy looks after himself, he's fit, a good professional and can still do a job."
Sheringham spent three years at Upton Park, but his sole appearance in 2007 was an FA Cup fourth round tie against Watford.
