Oh dear, I fear for Luton now !
Boss to leave crisis club Luton Luton Town manager Kevin Blackwell is to leave the financially-stricken League One club, who are in administration, in a month's time. Blackwell will depart after the home game against Bournemouth on 9 February.
Full story to follow.

Hmmmm. Wonder if he said he was going to walk? On the one hand, I understand his reasons for leaving - I'd probably feel the same. That doesn't mean I would have left, though - he's shown that his claim to being a lifelong fan is a crock of bull. No true fan would abandon the club in its hour of need without being pushed (á la Coyne). What a kick in the teeth this is If we can't sign players, even on loan, how are we supposed to sign a manager? I guess one of our coaches will have to become the caretaker. Relegation is now sealed.

Is there any chance it will go as far as you not being able to play your remaining fixtures this season Neko? Some guys on waccoe fear we'll have our 3 points we gained off you wiped away if you stop existing for this season. Cheers.

Cheers. we wont be the only team affected i remember a time when a few seasons back when Farsley Celtic were cost the title of the unibond league because they took 6 points off a team that ceased to exist, the eventual winners took 3 points off this team which they lost aswell but won the title over farsley on goal differance.........so it could have major repercussions

If they go extinct, sureley they will have to be taken off our points total? If this doesn't happen, then come the end of the season, not eveyone will have played 46 matches. I'm worried that this could affect our promotion push. Tranmere have beaten them at Tranmere, but lost at Luton Donny have drew with them a Luton Yeovil have drawn with them at Yeovil Luton have beaten Nottingham Forest at Luton Drawn with Carlisle at Luton Drew with Walsall Not played Swansea, playing them on sat. Bad News"

I doubt it'll go that far - we still have about 23 players, and as I said, we'll just have to let one of our coaches take over when he leaves, unless 2020 have someone in mind. The admin said we needed to raise over a million to make it to the end of the season, and we've done that through sales and the cup replay, so we should be alright. It's moreso survival after that, and whether or not we get relegated that's the bigger issues

I read that Blackwell was actually paying some of the players wages He was giving a couple of the younger guys loans to cover their mortgages, yeah. I can't fault him on that front; he is a decent bloke. He's just walking out right when we need continuity at the club - when players are disappearing left and right, you need the manager to stick around and anchor the dressing, and he's obviously not doing that. Fair enough; he's staying 'til after the transfer window's closed, but you can't tell me this is gonna help dressing room morale, surely?

If the administrators were selling assets without asking him i don't blame him for buggereing off.
I too really hope everything works out for you guys,we have yet to see but i don't reckon any club would be allowed to go under.

Blimey how sad it is that some people are more concerned about weather they will still have 3 points or not if poor old Luton go bust, which now looks very sadly more likey. Given Leeds recent financial plight id of thought one or two could show Neko a little more sympthamy than that. Good luck Luton, ive got my fingers crossed for you.

In all fairness, one numpty aside, every Leeds fan I've seen has at least said they hope we don't go out of business, if not expressing full sympathy and support. They have got a promotion battle to worry about; I can't blame them for thinking of their club too.

neko knows we all sympathise for Luton's plight, Leeds fans have been through it like you said and i dont wish it on fans of any team......but losing blackwell is no big problem
but how pissed would you be if ur team was cost promotion by losing points after a record was expunged

I know I'd be pretty narked as well. Losing Blackwell could well be an issue - now that he's worked out that we prefer 4-4-2, we've lost 1 in 13 games, and he's obviously got some appreciable motivational skills if he can get the squad to keep playing so well even without being paid for 2 months. I can't deny that he's doing the job for us right now - and how're we gonna get anyone of even remotely comparable ability in at the moment?

Frankly Leeds deserved their punishment and this has been proved by their activities in the transfer market! Bates had a war chest somewhere.
Luton is a completely different ball game in my eyes, and deserve all the sympathy of the football league. The way Liverpool have behaved is not on! What is £250K to them really!

Nobody wants to see a club fold but it's looking like at least another relegation for poor old luton. They've battled well in the last few weeks and I for one wish them well
