Liverpool have refused to hand over their share of the gate receipts near enough 200K to Luton . Its a disgrace. Forget all the arguments that Luton should not have got themselves in trouble its not the fault of the players or fans who need their club to survive. 200K ? Its Gerrards wages for two weeks and just highlights the ever growing disparity between the haves & have nots. The Premiership has seen the so called elite starve & kill off the lower pyramid. Unless you have rich backers no matter your fan base or history you will be going nowhere. Cases in point Wigan, Fulham & soon to be QPR. Surely the players of Liverpool stump up some cash for their fellows or just as a gesture ? Mind you only 30% actually bothered handing over a days wages to the nurses hardship fund which shows what sort of characters they are.

I must admit I was disappointed by this, especially since it was the administrators and not the club that made the request - and I'm sure a lot of their fans will disapprove too, if you ask them.
It's pocket-change to them, but could make the difference between survival or not for us. Bloody skinflints.

I thought they'd agree to do that?!
It's the worst situation for clubs and fans, not knowing whether you'll have a club to support. Really hope they see sense and hand over the money for the greater good.

Im sorry, really sorry for Lutons position but i think its harsh to pick on Liverpool here. Its got nothing to with Liverpool and to ask for hand outs is actually fairly embarrassing for the whole of the football league imo. Liverpool might be a big club but they have huge over heads and costs too cover too, why should they give up money because Luton has been badly run?

I agree Forza, the amount of pressure they've been put under is ridiculous, if they had given the their share, fair enough, but its their choice at the end of the day. Luton have got themselves in this position and can't expect handouts, take in consideration that Liverpool are currently financing a new stadium which they are cutting back on at the moment due to lack of finances.

I do think that's a fair point, Forza, but as we said, 100k just once is hardly a big thing for them, whereas for us it's quite literally a lifeline. What ever happened to the idea of a 'football family'?
As for Luton being badly run; if that were just the case, I'd hold my hands up and agree. Our previous board siphoned £13m out of the club though - we weren't badly run, we were practically raped by them. In light of the circumstances, I don't think it's unreasonable to at least try asking for a bit of money from a club that's rolling in it so that our squad can actually be paid, bearing in mind they've gone unpaid for 9 weeks now. Some of them have even had to ask Blackwell for a loan from his pocket so they can pay off their mortgage for another month!
Like I said, I'm disappointed by Liverpool's decision, but I can't hold it against them in any real sense.
Also, just so it's on record, it was the administrator that asked for the money, not the club itself.

Luton have got themselves in this position and can't expect handouts As I said above, it wasn't us that put us in this position, it was crooked businessmen - who, incidentally, the FA decided were "fit and proper" for the job. Nice to see the FA admitting they were wrong on that count I don't think Liverpool should get all the flak they are, because it is entirely their choice, but at the same time I don't think asking was unreasonable - you never know, after all.

Well to say that Liverpool are rolling in it is really not the case when i think they are over £250M in the red, the yanks bought the club on loan. But hey you no more about the subject than me so its unfair for me to comment. But best of luck with everything i hope someone does help you out, no true football fan wants to see someone go out of business. Except for brighton ;D

It would have been great if they had given their share to you, but i think the amount of negative press they are receiving is a bit unfair thats all, well i hope its all sorted out and you get a draw today, a trip to anfield will certainly help.

Except for brighton ;D I think the fact that a Watford fan started this article says enough! What I meant by rolling in it was that their weekly income is probably several months' worth of ours - yeah, they've got the players to pay, but they still had £25m for Torres, for example. Our transfer budget wouldn't even come close to the VAT on that in an average season!

Personally, I think a win would be great - Newcastle away in the 4th round, if they progress, would be brilliant. Huge gate receipts and a team we could beat! ;D
