This just in - the Peschisolido saga is finally done with! After several days of no longer hearing, "I hear he's signing tomorrow," he's actually signed! 36yr-old striker, one-year deal - truth told, I think that it's a little unnecessary (we've got Andrews, Talbot, Parkin, Boyd and Furlong already, with Morgan available up front too), but we'll see how it goes. Just hoping Blackwell's not gonna stop our youngsters playing! We've also got Joel Grant, Kevin Harper, Martin Britton and Don Hutchinson on trial, and also had a few youth team players given a run-out against Hitchin in our recent friendly.

He likes the oldies does Blackwell! What a muppet I also like how the luton site is saying he's 'only 36'

I know, WALL In fairness, he has got one 25 yr-old and one 24 yr-old in too, so it's not only been old players... I was a bit surprised at that wording too though! No announcement on the Luton site, and no rumours around the Luton fans (that I know of) either - so touch wood, you're keeping him! ;D

Latest news; Boyd's contract has been terminated by mutual consent ("You obviously don't care about us, and we fucking hate you" - how much more mutual does it get? ;D), and he's already gone and signed for Leyton Orient. That's them tipped for relegation As rumours go, Barnett's apparently got a £3m move to West Brom lined up - or Reading, depending who you believe - and there's word that Crystal Palace are willing to offer £200k for Spring. As for players in; the only rumour I know of presently is the Norwegian striker Hoass, who's been on trial with the club for a fair bit and apparently "has looked the part." So if the rumours are to be believed; we're losing a CB when we already need a couple more, and are getting a striker when we currently have 6. Must admit I'm starting to get a little miffed by this - is Blackwell hoping to become the first manager to play 2-3-5? Apparently, Clark Carlisle of Watford, who we had on loan last season at CB, is transfer listed - if the £3m for Barnett is paid up front instead of in installments, he could prove to be a decent acquisition in Barnett's place. He certainly looked good enough for us last season!

And today, it looks like Leon Barnett is off to West Brom for £2m. Or £2.5m Or £2.5m, rising to £3m later. Depends who you believe. The O/S has announced that a fee's been agreed, so the move's subject to personal terms and a medical - truth told, I think £2.5m is a good price, and we could certainly get another two or three decent CB's in with that money. The other news today is that apparently Hoass has agreed terms and is just waiting to sign, and might even play in our friendly against D&R - looking forward to seeing how good he is, but it really does look like Blackwell's got no intention of playing Talbot or Andrews, which is a damn shame They could use the experience in this league!

Dont think Carlisle will be leaving now Neko.
More likely Shittu is off with Demerit,Carlisle & Jackson the first choice CBs & Clarke would not all due respect to you not want to drop a division.
Bad luck about Barnett. He'll double that value at WBA. PS as Davies is moving on do you have a sell on clause for both players ?
Blackwell = trouble methinks.

We have got a sell-on clause, but I don't think it's ever been confirmed exactly what it is - estimates range from 5% to 13%, though most people think it's 10% (which seems to be the norm, from what I'm aware of). That's a pity - we could do with a defender like him Can't think of too many that might want to leave their clubs that'd be what we need either

Latest addition to the ranks; 36 year-old midfielder Hutchison, on a one-year contract. Still need some CBs, Blackwell! Get them in, and I'll be quite optimistic about the forthcoming season

I'll get excited when it comes to fruition, Derek, but at least Blackwell's aware of what we need!

First up, we've signed Richard Jackson on a free transfer (28 yr-old full back) with a two-year contract. Former Derby player, very capable at this level by all accounts and will do a good job for us this season.
Also, Blackwell's saying he wants two more players to be signed by Saturday - one CB and one GK. He said that one of the players is a face we're all familiar with, and speculation among the fans is that Clark Carlisle of Watford may be coming here permanently after last season's loan - however, Watford fans have been saying he's highly unlikely to go anywhere, and that Shittu would be more likely to leave. As of this morning, however, there's a rumour going round that one Markus Heikkenen may be on his way back - though it was also rumoured earlier in the transfer window that he'd signed for Rapid Vienna. Apparently, that wasn't true, and he'd certainly fit the 'player we all know well' bill nicely.
Either would be a fantastic signing at this level of competition, and while a small part of me is gloating at Heikkenen's expense ("Thought you were too good for us huh? Well look who's come crawling back!" etc), I really would be glad to see him return. Old fan favourite, a player who knows most of the squad and who we know can do the business.

I've been thinking the same Derek. I really don't think that joking about us playing a 3-2-5 formation is such a joke any more! The younger guys are definitely gonna miss out on first-team places now though, which is a shame

FINALLY! A centre-back! Taken from the O/S: Polish first-team international at 19? That's some pedigree! (Also, making your debut in a 3-0 win over Watford? Supoib! ;D) Looks to be a good capture for us, even if we only keep him until January - extending the loan wouldn't be such a bad thing either, mind!

Well spotted Neko, I missed that one! Sounds like a good signing, at least there's some cover at centre back now (it won't be too long before Coyne's out injured)
Looking good.
