Good grief, I think I'm coming over all dizzy... We've got an attacking midfielder in David Edwards (free from Shrewsbury, small fee to pay since he's under 24, 3yr deal) and left back Alan Goodall (free from Rochdale, 25yrs old, 2yr deal). Looks like Nicholls is going to Preston, but there's word on the grapevine that Watford are offering 1.5m plus Carlisle and/or Henderson for Barnett, which in truth I think would be quite a good deal. There's also interest in Peschisolido (striker, 35yrs old, free agent) and Furlong (striker, 38yrs, free agent), who would compliment our relatively young line-up well, methinks, if only to impart their experience. Would prefer Peschi of the two, but if they're free transfers we can't really be too picky!

Signed Darren Currie today too (Ipswich seem to think he's no big loss, but he looks good to me!), and there's a few other rumours bandying round, including a player trade with Stevenage (Morrison for Beresford) and a 34 yr-old defender by the name of Chis Perry, formerly a £4m signing for Spurs.
The Peschi/Furlong choice rumbles on, though rumour is one of them will sign/be unveiled tomorrow - exactly which one seems to depend on which forum you read though!

Darren Currie is a steady player neko - he's got about as much pace as me, but is very skillful and a great crosser of the ball! For nowt he is good business! Peschi or Furlong would both be decent signings in my opinion - they'll get goals in that league mate!

Can't say as I know much about Perry, but apparently Cardiff have also put in a bid for him - I doubt we'll beat that, especially given that they're a tier higher. I don't much fancy getting Furlong in; at 38 he's definitely past his best. Peschi's my favourite of the two. I've heard that about Currie too - sounds like he's very much in the David Preece mould, and he's someone everyone at Luton has quietly yearned for another of! Absolute legend for us, and I believe he spent some time with you guys too... after earning his testimonial against Man Utd for ten years of service!

Yeah, but he didnt do much at our place to be honest - got injured if my memory serves me right! Currie can play wide on either flank, and he'll set up a few goals next season! watch for his perma-tan though - its amazing!

Signed Darren Currie today too (Ipswich seem to think he's no big loss, but he looks good to me!), I'm to be honest glad, he is skilful, but just incredibly slow and that's why he struggled to get into our team. His crosses are good and he should be alright in League One. But am I the only one amused by our unofficial website's picture and caption: ipswichtown.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=911&p=2&stid=8450145 ?

I think the lack of pace should be less of an issue in League One, so that'll probably help - the fact that, at present, it looks like we'll have one big target man and one of two nippy strikers up front should help reduce that problem too, since - if his passing's as good as many have been saying - that gives him plenty of options from any position, rather than having to run past defenders with the ball. And no, you're not the only one amused! ;D

Latest news, part A: Perrett and Leary have been released - Perrett's joined Bournmouth, and Leary's joined Barnet. Can't say too much for Leary - only started 11 games for us, though he looked pretty good - but it's a real shame to see Perrett go. 99 appearances over 6 years, been a perfectly loyal player, and while he wasn't up to Championship standard, he's shown he can do the business at this level. That 100th appearance would've been nice, but I guess we can't afford sentimentality Part B: apparently Beresford, Boyd and Davis have been transfer listed. The first two, I'm not surprised about, but why Sol Davis?! Boyd, we'll be lucky to shift if recent events are any clue (apparently his was practically thrown out the door at Darlington; I guess his wage demands are ludicrous - so I'm a little worried as to what he's on here!), while I can see Bez going to a League 1/2 club. I really hope Sol doesn't go, but apparently Blackwell doesn't rate him for God-alone knows what reason. Wouldn't be surprised to see a Championship club come in for him, never mind another League One team, and I'm pretty sure he'll go soon. Truth told, listing davis is the first thing the new regime's done that I've really questioned

I wouldn' trust Blackwell any further than I could throw him. Sol Davis is very dependable. Surprised Leary is released and I would hnave thought at the very least a division 4 club like Wycombe would have come in for him. He's a number 2. Mind you you have got Chris Cummins our youth team coach in for your academy. Cummins was in dispute with Watford over Young claiming he was owed 2% of the transfer fee. Still rumbling on. H e has also provided over the development of a number of players like Bouazza ,Parkes etc etc. Good signing for you backroom wise. Even if he is being a bit of an a**e over here.

And Paul Furlong's been signed on a one-year contract. Not sure if he's a good signing or not; brings plenty of experience to the squad, but I'm a little concerned that he may be favoured over the younger strikers, denying them experience. Apparently, Peschi's set to sign tomorrow too, so Blackwell doesn't appear to have as much faith in our current strike force as the fans do Seems strange having so much activity this summer, after years of silence and subtlety with little happening!

Latest news; Chris Perry's been signed on a 2yr contract (how the hell did we beat two Championship clubs to him?! ) and Wednesday are apparently sniffing round Ahmet Brkovic. Hands off, bitches! Surprised that all's been so quiet around Barnett though - I thought people would be sniffing around him by now!

Furlong is a strange one, Peschi would make more sense as you could still get perhaps 2 years out of him. Who is that youngster you have upfront...Calvin Andrews or something? He looked pretty decent against us last season.

Well, Peschi's been "due to sign tomorrow" each day for a week now, so I'm not putting much stock in that rumour any more, I'm just waiting to see if it happens. I would personally have taken him ahead of Furlong too, if only for the reason you gave - but hey ho, such is life Lots of people seem to be saying Perry's a twat; I honestly don't know why that is. Care to share? Hopefully he'll do the buiness for us anyway~ The yougnster was either Talbot or Andrews; both looked promising toward the end of last season, and I've got a lot of hope for Parkin too - which only leads to Blackwell's targeting older strikers confusing me even more. As I said, I'd rather our young 'uns got some experience, and if he bringing his own strikers in that may not be the case. There seems to be a general buzz of optimism among Luton fans surrounding Talbot especially, so I guess we'll see what happens!
