Barnsley have completed the signing of Cheltenham striker Kayode Odejayi, reports BBC Radio Sheffield.
The 25-year-old moves for an initial fee of £200,000, although the Robins may benefit from a sell-on clause which has been agreed as part of the deal.
His sale breaks the Cheltenham record of £100,000, which was set in January when Grant McCann made the same move from Whaddon Road to Oakwell.
His old club Forest Green will receive a sell-on windfall from the move.
Odejayi joined Cheltenham from Forest Green for a fee - set by a tribunal - of £5,000, which eventually rose to £10,000 on appearances.
The opportunity was too good for him to turn down
Cheltenham boss John Ward Rovers will receive a percentage of the profit on that £10,000 as part of the tribunal ruling.
Odejayi has scored 34 league and cup goals in 119 starts and 55 substitute appearances in his four seasons with Cheltenham.
"It's disappointing to lose Kay, but the opportunity was too good for him to turn down," Robins boss John Ward told his club's website.
"Kay has improved tremendously in the last three years and deserves the chance to test his ability in the Championship."
