Barnsley have won the race to sign midfielder Dwayne Mattis from League Two side Bury. The Bury website says a £50,000 fee has been agreed, double Barnsley's original offer for the 25-year-old.
They will receive a further £25,000 if Barnsley avoid relegation this season and the deal also includes a 20% future sell-on clause.
Mattis, whose contract with Bury expired at the end of the season, had also been a target for MK Dons.
Bury director Ian Harrop said: "The player would not commit himself to the club so we had no alternative but to secure the best deal as he would have left at the end of the season for nothing."
