I'm seriously considering starting a riot... see this work e-mail: "Further to my e-mail regarding No Smoking Ban, it has been noticed that staff are now smoking on the public footpath next to the alleyway adjacent to Brent House, littering the public highway with their discarded cigarette ends which is not acceptable. Please cascade this information to all staff in your unit/section. As you are all probably aware Brent already has its own NO SMOKING POLICY. It states "From 1 July 2005, employees will no longer be permitted to take smoking breaks and to smoke within working hours. Where employees do wish to smoke before or after work and at lunch time they will need to do so outside Council buildings." The smoking ban will apply to everyone in the building including visitors. In compliance with the smoking ban issued by the landlords, people wishing to smoke outside their working hours, will have to move away from the grounds before smoking. This policy applies to all employees of the Council. Where employees fail to observe the policy this may lead to disciplinary action." Received today! Jules angry! Jules bash!

Beer up 1p a pint that doesnt mean anything nowadays cos of the offers that brewerys run at pubs It does it means 88p/£1.12 to the barrel which then means more to distribute then add an extra 5p from the brewery then the pubs puting it up say 5p your looking at maybe a 10p/11p rise to the pint on some beer depending on how poncy the pub is and what brewery say Inbev or Seven continents to name two its all about the money. If you think howmany pints a day the country must drink

I will however consider looking for a less fascistic council to work for...

That'd be quite good though, maybe I should try getting the Union to negotiate! "Comrade Management, we the workers accept that we can no longer enjoy our rich, flavoursome cigarettes! In return however, we have the following demands: A see-saw At least 2 sets of swings A roundabout A novelty slide" ;D

Sorry Jules, but your problem is - just cut down and save money. I for one hate walking up to office building and seeing loads of people having a fag - still you may have a different swing My problem is being told what I can do within breaks which are strictly set down in legislation anyway! There are never loads though, not everyone goes at the same time. Also more considerate types such as myself avoid standing too close to the building - maybe crossing the street, or a few 100m up the road... it's not a big deal, so why do they need to make it one?!

They've made it a big deal because certain people, your work mates are taking the piss. Set work breaks, fuck me - hour for lunch is what you get in the public sector. And you have to take a minium 30 mins at that! All the other legislation is ignored. Be grateful if you get em fella. And for the record 'no one likes being told what to do' Save the planet don't smoke
