Allen admits takeover talks
Sheffield Wednesday chairman Dave Allen admits he is in takeover talks with a mystery overseas casino owner.
The Owls have debts of £26m and Allen has declared he is keen to hand over control.
Allen says discussions are currently at a 'very sensitive stage' and plans to meet the potential buyer again later this month.
"We are not looking for small-time people, we are looking for a mega-rich businessman like Roman Abramovich at Chelsea, who wants to buy a football club for a hobby," Allen told the Sheffield Star.
"We have been talking to interested parties and I shall be speaking again to someone from overseas in the third week of January.
"This man has made money from casinos overseas and has vast wealth.
"At the moment things are at a very sensitive stage, but someone like that on board would really help the club."
Allen and fellow directors Geoff Hulley and Keith Addy hold around 30% of the club's shares.

When i've seen him, he's always looked dodgy and gets caught out of position far too often. Good move though as it benefits all involved. I prefer Hills or Spurr anyday tbh. Takeover talk is encouraging but knowing uncle dave, its just more spin again. I dont believe anything that man says. The sooner he is shifted the better imo.

Gilbert was probably good about 6 years ago but he's been crocked too many times to be effective now. I agree loaning him out is a good move. I'm starting to worry about Spurr's abilities. I know he's young but his pace is awful. Hills would be better in that position for me. How's life in South America Sammy?

Why would we want to keep that lazy sack of shite?

Why would we want to keep that lazy sack of shite? Healy joined Leeds United on the October 29, 2004, already a fan favourite. He turned around several games with his substitute appearances, although he is wary of being tagged as a super sub. In his first season at Leeds, he was the club's top scorer with seven goals, and in the 2005-06 season, 16 goals as of 23 April 2006. Healy scored Leeds United's opening goal of the 2006-07 Championshipship campaign from a penalty in a 1-0 victory over Norwich City on his 27th birthday. Healy was Leeds' top goalscorer this season with four Championship goals until Robbie Blake over took him on 25th November 2007. When Kevin Blackwell was sacked as Leeds manager, John Carver took over as caretaker manager and played David in his best position, as a striker, instead of Blackwell's right or left wing. New manager Dennis Wise has used a rotation system with Leeds' striker since the start of his reign preferring to play either Healy or Ian Moore with Richard Cresswell and or Geoff Horsfield and Blake slotting in behind the pair. One of the major criticisms of David Healy's game is his inconsistency. No one can question his talent, most fans would tell you he was the Peacocks most talented player, at times unplayable. However his inability to always produce his best form has forced manager Dennis Wise to leave him on the sidelines for much of the season, even prompting rumours of his departure with Premiership clubs such as Wigan, Charlton and Sheffield United coveting the Northern Ireland international.

Indeed RJ. But not our most talented player, Blake is better

Blake 16 goals in 58 appearances.
Healy 24 in 95.
Better ratio for Blake. So I will concur with your point. However Healy has 24 international goals to his credit.

What's Eddie Lewis like JJ?

The other difference is that Blake isn't an out and out goalscorer, he creates too. Healy relies too heavily on others, and when he isn't getting the service, loses interest. In the right environment, I'm sure Healy can perform but it isn't working for him at Leeds.
Lewis is alright, playing better now than he has for quite a while. Although as a winger, he never seems to want to take on his marn. Ok as a makshift LB as well. Why do you ask - are you linked with him?

No just seen him on the Championship a few times and he seems like one of your only decent players. Just wanted a Leeds perspective on him. We have the same problems as you do with Blake. McLean and Burton are very skilful at holding the ball up and creating chances but not at scoring. If Tudgay's having a lazy match then we have problems putting the ball in the net.

Yes, Eddie on his day is one of our better players. Takes a good free kick too. No co-incidence that our poor form after Xmas last year to present day coincided with him not playing well

It was the main source, yes. Plus, he linked up ok with Hulse. Now we've got another decent target man (Flo), things might improve as we start our push for the play offs ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png)

Morning Mrs H and JJ. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Does the title of the thread refer to a news story, or is it just an acknowledgement that there are more Leeds fans than Wendy lovers on this board!?!? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) It was the main source, yes.
