Gary Megson or Nigel Worthington to Wednesday. I'll bet you any money. Please let it be Nigel Pearson!!!! If it's Megson and Warnock's still in charge at Bramall Lane when we next play you, we could have a pretty fraught steel city derby to put it mildly! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) you silly buggers! theres no good managers available!

It was crazy you giving him a 3 year contract just a month ago when things were hardly going well, that'll be a mighty big pay off. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) The contract apparently only stipulated that if he was to be sacked he would only be paid up to the end of the season, not for the extra 2 years as well. Good job really because we haven't got the money to pay him!

You can ask HGO ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Its a strange one. There is an argument to say that PS is not up to the standard of the CCC. His wage bill has been raised to a relatively competitive level and the squad are all his choices. Yet progress appears to be lacking. I haven't seen the Owls this season but the impression is that you have been a little unlucky with some results but haven't particularly looked that good. The league position would probably reflect the squads performances. However, compared to last season at this time, SWFC have improved. Marginally, but a case can be made. Ten games in and you are not cast adrift. Two or three positive results could have you mid table. Its the timing which is odd. Why give him an extended contract when you have doubts? Why sack him within a month of extending the contract? Especially when it will cost money that you dont have to pay him off. If the team was still struggling at Christmas, then maybe that was the time to review the situation but even then, why give him a new contract. Contrast this situation with Neil Warnocks. Our board are being very canny on this and Wednesday should IMHO have copied this stance. Personally, I thought PS was limited. He was, again IMHO lucky to get you up and would have failed to do so had you not scored that last minute winner at already promoted Hull. He did however, keep you up, which was the limit of your ambitions. Mid table was the ambition this year. Nobody can say whether you would have achieved this under PS but nobody right now can say you wouldn't. As I have said, the main point is the extended contract and the decision to sack so quickly. It makes SWFC look very silly. Dave Allen has stated that continuity is important (again, look at SUFC's position on this) and appeared to back this up with the contract. And now this. Great fun for us Blades but not good for you Owls. Now you are getting some idea of what we have been through ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) By the way, the BBC South Yorkshire board isn't too bad and could do with a few more decent posters. Come and join us. It can be a bit quiet but a few of the old football heaven guys are there and you can avoid the "what did you have for tea" brigade. Hope you are well btw, despite recent events

Id agree BB. I started to question PS, if the tactics we were using werent working we didnt have a clue what to do. On the flip side the players we have are limited to say the least, theres only so much you can do. Maybe a change is needed but looking at whats out there its a little scary, Robson, Hoddle, Pearson, Worthy, Megson. We cant afford anyone in a job already. Looking forward to the agm now, i can get my Allen out vote in. Wanker!

As far as I could tell HGO, there was no method. The team were neither a passing team nor a hoofball team, despite my preconceptions ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) They didn't appear to have much stomach for a fight, players were constantly chopped and changed and played out of position.(yes I know you have had injuries) yet these were all his players, playing to his instructions under his tactics. I think its unfair to level criticism at Dave Allen on the financial side. he has given PS a wage structure that is competitive in that league. Dont forget, its some £3 million MORE than our Neil had when we were in a similar position. You dont have to spend big on transfers these days to build a team capable of competing in the CCC. But you do have to get the right players who will play within a certain framework. That framework is developed by the manager and he puts players in that will work within that framework. This is where PS appeared to lack knowledge. He didnt appear to have a style that he was aiming for. Let me explain. Neil Shipperley will never do a job in the PL but he is perfect for a club like SWFC. He makes a nuisance of himself, has a physical presence and scores the odd goal. He unsettles defences and creates space for others. He is also a good let out when no other options are available. PS never had a player like this when it seemed you were crying out for one. Another example is Stuart McCall. Rumour has it that he was only on about a grand a week when he came to United. Why has PS never bought in someone like this? When he has had money to spend he appears to be lacking again. Contrast the purchases of Neil Warnock and PS when they were given about 400k to spend. NW bought Michael Brown, PS bought David Graham (ok, a little cheaper but you get my point) Kenny Lunt is a fairly highly regarded footballer at that level and could bring some much needed creativity to midfield, as well as helping at set pieces and chipping in with a goal or two. A fairly major purchase for SWFC in the summer. yet he has hardly played. He should be a player who plays all the time and you get your players to give him the ball, especially when you have strikers who like to run on to a through ball. He makes things happen yet when he has played, the game seems to pass him by. So all in all, I am sad to see PS go,,because he had all the attributes to see SWFC achieve all that I want them to achieve ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Oh, a replacement. Waddle for me ;D ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I thought he was the one that could challenge the Blades supremacy. At least they didn't wait till Christmas Eve! BTW, Yorkshire football is not a disgrace. Speak for yourselves, Leeds. There is a Yorkshre club that is storming up the Premiership. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)
