Very true mate, very true.
And Coppell has done an outstanding job, to think you haven't really bought anyone after last season and your doing so well.
We need to get a mixture tho I think - some players from the lower leagues with promise and some proven players, you cant just gamble on the cheaper ones.
Hope we bring in someone like Sharpe and someone else and get a few decent loans in, people with Prem experience.

Its not widely known but I reckon about 3 mill. Heavily doubt our tory chairman will help us out aswell That should be enough for 4 decent players. As you said you want to get some loan deals sorted there are planty of decent strikers not playing for their teams.

Well as usual Aidy will be forced to work wonders on a small budget, hope he can pull the rabbit out of the hat!

I hope so too. I have quite a few Watford supporting mates and I want the banter to continue in the Prem next season and for many more hopefully ;D

Maybe we should start planning discreetly for division 2. Buy proven players for that league & come back up the year after. We'll lose Young no doubt for around 1.5M 7 use that to purchase talent. About Bangura no.2 GB.I dont think he had played in sufficient internationals etc... Pressley is Rangers bound.Dont know if he'd cut it in a proper league. Heres my Christmas shopping list.(so far) Sharpe Scunthorpe Edwards Luton Chopra Cardiff(may be a bit pricey) Jones Crewe A Varney Crewe A Fontaine Bristol C

I take it you meant the championship when you said division 2? Yeah I heard the same thing about Umaru Bangura, shame as he was supposed to be amazing. Out of those you listed I don't know who Sharpe & Fontaine are but they could be worth a punt. Found this article today ;D -- Watford hire PI's to track transfer targets tribalfooball.com - December 10, 2006 Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd has revealed he hires private investigators to check on his transfer targets. He told the Sunday Mirror: "The players have to be right for the club. Yes, off-field activities are very important to me. "We thoroughly investigate the guys we want to get in. In fact, I'd like to be more thorough if we could. "If you want somebody to do a job, vet them thoroughly, research them, know where you're going and then give them a chance." When asked if this involved using private investigators, he replied: "Yes, football is big business isn't it? "You spend a lot of money on players, so you've got to do your research, to be as thorough as you can. We are as thorough as we can be, obviously within the realms of the law. "Short of getting people arrested, that's what you've got to do. But if I were to tell everybody my methods it wouldn't be fair." He added: "When we bring in a player we need the right sort of personality. There's a dynamic in the group and every time there is a change in personnel the dynamic shifts. "I'm not saying I want totally boring, sensible players. The rogues deserve a chance as well. They are not all bad. "It's about handling them, valuing them, and if they step out of line getting rid of them. "The culture of our club is key - the hard work and willingness to improve underpins all we do. "I'll do whatever it takes to get the best out of every player. But the minute he stops trying to do his best, I have to make a decision about whether he stays. "There are some here who still haven't recovered from beating Leeds in the play-off final. They're still living on that. We were sending postcards from Cardiff for a very long time. That's gone now." --

Scraping the barrel?
Watford in for non-league star Scannell
Watford are eyeing 21 year-old striker Damian Scannell, of Nationwide South side Fisher Athletic.
Aidy Boothroyd has already handed Scannell a trial and sent scouts to watch his recent performances, says the Daily Mail.
Scannell has been in good form, scoring a second half hat-trick in last month's 5- 0 FA Trophy win over Hayes.

Banking on fairytale endings there, methinks... (Just popping in to see how the Edwards thing was going - glad to see Stein making the right noises!)

Apparently Sunderland have bid £1 mill for him according to the Mail.
£1 mill would be a bargain, c'mon Aidy.
ALSO, Young in shock transfer rumour..
He's our brightest player and he's still learning in every game, sell if we get a good offer maybe but not yet!

Non league players can make the step up. We bought Kitson from Cambridge United and if he had not been injured he is a starter for us. Also Kevin Doyle came from nowhere.

True, and what a find Doyler was aswell. Sure there are some future stars out there, just need to be uncovered and nutured in the right way to progress as a pro footballer.

Aidy was on 5 live earlier:
He said that 3 bids were in this week for Ash, and he has been tapped up directly by clubs. Aidy stated that is illegal and Ash has given him the details.
Aidy wants Watford to be a Top ten club so Ash won't have to leave.
The presenter stated that Billy Sharpe (Scunthorpe) Lee Williamson (Rotherham) are Watford targets possibly by the weekend.

Hearing rumours of Spring going to Norwich.. If it was cash + player deal for Earnshaw then I'd be happy! As much as I like Spring, I don't think he can cut it in the Prem, if we were to go down he'd still be an asset to us though.
