This is for the people who used to frequent the BBC site. I almost expected Ace Al to come on and claim

Pete, I assume from the picture that you have been to Machu Picchu, which way did you go. The old tourist train or did you walk the Inca trail.

'Twas the Inca Trail. Did some volunteer work out in Peru, then travelled afterwards. The Inca Trail was part of the cost. Incredible experience. My old signature picture of Snoopy was taken on there as well.

I walked about 60 odd miles of the trail, four days with three nights camping, as part of an organised trip supported by a team of porters.
Two main things stick in my mind, walking through the Sun gate and seeing Machu Picchu for the first time.
The second, was quite weird, the porters brought a football and challenged us to a game on a piece of flat scrub land just below the "dead womans pass" at a height of about 14500ft above sea level. We had hillwalking boots on and they were in sandals. At that height you can hardly breath after you have run three steps, and when you kick a ball with hillwalking boots at that height it flies for about 100yds.
After Machu Picchu we walked into Aquas Calientes, went to the hot springs, stayed the night, next day we got pissed on the train back to Cuzco.
