No not a purist at all mate, I'm all for improving the handling and performance of these cars - because when you look at them now - they're dangerous. Just not as you say to the max power extremes - which is chav central Yeah well bit technical but you may be aware the rear suspension of Heralds is very dodgy, and apparently the rear wheels can almost fold in under the car - if you take a corner too fast you're in slip-slidey-scheisse... On the other hand they were sturdily built back then, more so than now arguably... Agreed!

Problem with those cars is that they where built to take the crash, and not bend. Crumple zones etc., did not exist - hence you got bounced around the car whilst it stayed intact.
So whilst I love the charm of old cars - they do scare me a little for this very reason.
