I'll probably be called an uncultured heathen for this, but I've never understood paying that much for a bottle of anything. A decent wine's nice and all (I appreciate you're talking champers, but I don't like that at all), but I never notice enough of a difference to warrant paying that sort of price. Indeed, I tend to find the £5-£10 ones nicer than the £20-£30 ones! that bottle of Perignon was so smooth yet still with lots of fizz, it had loads of flavour, the cheaper ones are normally a lot sharper and the bubbles go straigt up your nose I can appreciate the pricey ones - especially that pricey - probably are better; I just can't understand why you'd pay that much for something that you'll drink, piss away and be done with. Maybe I'm just too practical

Funny thing is I pretty much skipped it through my twenties as I had a few bad experiences drinking it when I was in my teens. Now I rarely drink anything else, even in shit pubs (much to the annoyance of my friends who think it is 'gay' to drink wine. More fool them drinking crap fizzy water ala Fosters and the like.

I don't like wine but Patroyal once told me that is cos i haven't had a good one yet. A good wine is unbeatable but a bad wine can put you off the stuff.

I have a few mates that wont drink it as the only time they ever had its been shit and however much I tell them they will be hooked when they have something good they cant drag themselves away from crap lager.

For a decent lager though with some flavour to it I recommend Kirin but it tends to be pricey... different thread I guess...
