With the General Election date now released, I thought this website might be of some interest if only as a curiosity point. voteforpolicies.org.uk/You choose four areas of interest, then pick the set of policies that you most agree with for each - you're not told who they belong to, and there's no personalities involved. It's purely a vote based on the promises being made. My results came out as follows: Crime: Conservatives Economy: UKIP Europe: Green Party Immigration: Conservatives In part, I find that kind of surprising; I wouldn't dream of voting UKIP at all! Comparing the policies, it's surprising how middle-of-the-road the Cons have become versus some others too. If nothing else, those results prove one thing I've often remarked - I have no intention of voting Labour (not least because they've replaced Maggie Moron Margaret Moran with what appears to be a swarthy, smug git), and no one other party has policies I completely agree with! Thus, we see why I'm considering voting independent

Well, apparently, and I stress this as someone who has only heard of the BNP in passing, (but has heard enough to know that she's going to be branded a crazy nazi...), I apparently like the BNP's ideas on crime and economics. (I can see why on the crime, 'cause I'm very big on punishing people who do criminal acts, especially the pedophiles, which made me choose that option.) Conservative on education, and UKIP (which I've literally just learned about two seconds ago when I asked Neko), on immigration. I find, mostly, that all of these things are wooshing over my head though, as I've got no idea what many of these names and people mean. WOO!

As said on other threads, that just shows how good the BNP can potentially look on paper - and I think Pastie was right in saying that we can't be complacent; to the jaded voters, they might look like a good protest vote still (though thankfully the lack of media attention will hopefully have lessened that), particularly since there may well be the odd policy here and there that'll make people say "Yeah, actually..."

Thanks for posting that! Very interesting! I can't claim that mine came out as anything too Scientific as inevitably I ended up checking through the language used and made a clear effort to avoid UKIP or the BNP as they are generally pretty easy to spot. It is also fairly unscientific as I have done profound damage to a bottle of wine Even so, my results were "Greener" than I expected, and probably therefore worryingly naive! My vital statistics were: Green 66.67%; Labour 22.22% and Lib Dem 11.11%. I did all nine sections and can sleep soundly that none of the conventional "right" and only a fifth of the current "right" (Labour!) showed up in my answers... Crime Green Party Democracy Green Party Economy Green Party Education Green Party Environment Green Party Europe Labour Health / NHS Labour Immigration Green Party Welfare Lib Dems

Am surprised to see Labour's name turn up under Health/NHS though! I can only hope they're promising a radical policy shift from what they've done so far...

I did it the other day and got three as Green (Education, Europe and something else that I've forgotten), one as Labour and then for environment, I got the BNP.
So effectively, I should vote Green but will disagree with their environmental policy. And want to kick all the Polish geezers out of the South East.

I think that I am more of a 'lost' voter than a floating voter. I will always go and vote to register an interest but have spoiled my vote a couple of times. I still don't know what to do next time. Ultimately it will probably depend on how much danger there is of a Tory win in my area as that would ultimately do none of up any good! I'd consider Green rather than a spoiled vote though...
