Was a nice service and a great turnout from supporters. R.I.P.

Has nothing to do with top 4.
96 people lost their lives, as a football fan you should be able to respect the families left behind of the innocent people who died in the tradegy. All people who were old enough to appreciate what happened on that day were affected by the events and will never forget how and where they heard about it.
It disgusts me that a few of you don't really seem to care about the tragic events that brought about massive changes in the way football is watched in this country.
RIP to all those who died.

I've been reading about Hillsborough and although I didn't see the service today it was emotional to read averything - and to hear the comments of people like Alan Hansen and Kenny Dalgliesh.
RIP the 96

I can't help but feel I've missed something with this "justice for the 96" business. Blame has been apportioned, steps to prevent it happening again have been put in place - apart from The Scum offering the apology (which doesn't affect the 96, obviously), what's left?

RIP
Saw the service on sky news. Didn't agree with everything said about standing at football (particularly as the causes of the Hillsborough tragedy are perhaps more attributable to vast overcrowding, poor organisation and response by the police, and a delapidated run down poorly designed terrace - but thats all a different issue) but watching You'll Never Walk Alone and the 96 red balloons being released brought goosebumps as Rule said.
Also nice to see other scarfs there, Everton, carlisle, man city amongst others. Tragedies like this unite football supporters.
May their memories never be forgotten.

I dont agree with the comments at the service about "safe standing should never return" Pissed up, ticketless scousers should never return...but they do! Yeah, that was Trevor Hicks. Basically said that there had been calls for standing to return to British football, based on the 'safe' models in German football for example, but that himself and the other families were totally opposed to it. Perhaps a little out of place, but you can understand why he said it. Clearly his heart is in the right place, he never wants to see anything like that again. He did lose both his daughters after all. Neko - I'm no Liverpool fan and I'm sure there's someone who'd be better at explaining, but the families who had their lives shattered as a result of complete negligence & ignorance have never had justice, that is what that term refers to...

Justice against who? the police (who made mistakes) the club (who made mistakes) or the hundreds of ticketless scousers who turned up pissed and late and helped cause one of footballs worst ever tragedies? No single party was to blame, but the teenage kids singing 'justice for the 96' today wouldnt know about that would they?

Should answer any questions (I should've just linked that after Neko asked actually...). And no, I imagine they wouldn't.

Pissed up, ticketless scousers should never return...but they do! the families want some justice, but the only people to blame were the drunks who continued to push when there was no where to go and the sames drunks knew that if they caused trouble outside the gates, the police would be forced to open them, which started the whole incident in the first place. There are plenty of liverpool fans happy to blame South Yorkshire Police but how many are sticking there hands up to admit they started the problem? South Yorkshire Police reacted badly to the developing situation, but they didn't cause it.

As a small kid watching this and then having the unfortunate misfortune to read the Sun with the awful photographs of fans with faces pressed to the wire with facings turning blue it was horrifying.
I don't think that SYP should be labelled as murderers though. As with all disasters the tragedy is compounded by an initial design fault, poor decision making nd an inability to take decisive action ie whe fans were pleading to be let over the fence.
RIP to the 96. They'll not be forgotten. I hope the so called Nottingham Forest fans who were shouting Heysel at the time have had the time to reflect on their shameful behaviour as people were dying.
Hicks lost two beautiful daughters but the principle of safe standing (of course nothing is ever 100% safe) is reintroduced into football grounds to allow more fans to watch again at relatively cheap prices and get some atmosphere going.
Lets not forget the other tragedies either at Bradford for instance.
