The survey reveals that most the big clubs are under achievers. With Man Utd an under achiever in 29th place , Chelsea 33rd and Arsenal 27th despite the 3 teams winning almost everything since 1992. Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday at the bottom with a few other big clubs for company comes as no suprise, both being acknowledged as big clubs and both doing nothing for years. At the top of the table are all the minnows, no one expects or expected them to achieve anything and in a few years time most of them will probably be back where they were, in lower leagues. Like Wolves..........................

you cheeky fecker actually im surprised too after the d'ol and graham taylor period You leave Taylor alone KK. Got you up first time of asking and nearly won you the Championship. Hey we're better than Manure, Crimski and Arse. ;D Don't let Graham Simpson see this though. Might be another plank in his propaganda war to convince Hornets theres nowt to worry about , everythings in order.

is there any explanation as to how this table was worked out?
How can teams from big cities with no city rivals, who have won nothing (Doncaster and Hull) be considered overachievers? surely in relation to the potential status they could be at, maybe should be at, they're footballs biggest under-achievers

Hull were at deaths door and have climed the whole pyramid on not much finance is reasonable. How Donny are there ?? Winning the FL Trophy and the Sheffield & Hallamshire Cup that most prestigious of acheivements ie beating your lot Mort and the Owls must count heavily in their favour.

To quote a notorious quiz question: "which was the biggest city in Europe not to have bad a top flight football team, until this season?" ..... that hardly speaks of over-achievement does it?
.... i knew there was a reason to dislike donny.

I seem to recall Plymouth was always mentioned as the biggest behind Hull. Sure we could Google it.

A survey has revealed that Championship strugglers Doncaster Rovers are the biggest achievers in English Football. The Achievers Report looked at results, league tables and club records and then compared the resources of each club with its achievements since the Premier League began in 1992. Portsmouth came in second, with Hull City fourth. (Daily Mirror) Here's the full list: 1 Doncaster Rovers 2 Portsmouth 3 Reading 4 Hull City 5 Wigan Athletic 6 Cheltenham Town 7 Aldershot 8 Carlisle United 9 Scunthorpe United 10 Accrington Stanley 11 Morecambe Town 12 Bolton W 13 Yeovil Town 14 Colchester United 15 Sunderland 16 Hereford United 17 Swansea City 18 West Bromwich Albion 19 Northampton Town 20 Stoke City 21 Dagenham & Redbridge 22 Plymouth Argyle 23 Preston North End 24 Walsall 25 Rochdale 26 Macclesfield Town 27 Arsenal 28 Watford 29 Manchester United 30 Southend United 31 Blackburn 32 West Ham United 33 Chelsea 34 Wycombe Wanderers 35 Burnley 36 Barnet 37 Chesterfield 38 Everton 39 Blackpool 40 Rotherham United 41 Newcastle United 42 Crewe Alexandra 43 Gillingham 44 Bristol City 45 Liverpool 46 Barnsley 47 Leyton Orient 48 Hartlepool United 49 Port Vale 50 Lincoln City 51 Stockport County 52 Aston Villa 53 Birmingham City 54 Charlton Athletic 55 Peterborough United 56 Bury 57 Huddersfield Town 58 Fulham 59 Ipswich Town 60 Brighton & Hove Albion 61 Middlesbrough 62 Tottenham Hotspur 63 Derby County 64 Swindon Town 65 Crystal Palace 66 Darlington 67 Queens Park Rangers 68 Bristol Rovers 69 Chester City 70 Bradford City 71 Millwall 72 Tranmere Rovers 73 Oldham Athletic 74 Bournemouth 75 Grimsby Town 76 Sheffield United 77 Southampton 78 Norwich City 79 Leeds Utd 80 Exeter City 81 Cardiff City 82 MK Dons 83 Shrewsbury Town 84 Brentford 85 Leicester City 86 Luton Town 87 Notts County 88 Manchester City 89 Coventry City 90 Nottingham Forest 91 Wolverhampton Wanderers POG 92 Sheffield Wednesday where? "The Achievers Report looked at results, league tables and club records and then compared the resources of each club with its achievements since the Premier League began in 1992"? Wednesday have had almost no resources since 1992, so how are they bottom?

They would have had 8(?) years of Premiership money but I agree it all seems very vague. We were only in the Premiership for 4 seasons and we've hardly been flush since then.

but how many years have they been 30 million in debt? i think they're doing pretty damn well to be in the championship considering there financial restraints. seems to me that this table was made by someone with a good gasp of jingoism and not alot of football knowledge... ... i mean why are Sunderland 15th? - they've done as little as forest or the blades in the last 16 years

It's only now they have no real financial issues to speak of. A strange exercise but if it makes people happy
