Kevin Keegan has resigned as manager of Newcastle United after just eight months in charge.
The announcement follows lengthy talks between the 57-year-old and the board.
"I've been working desperately hard to find a way forward with the directors, but sadly that has not proved possible," Keegan said in a statement.
"It's my opinion that a manager must have the right to manage and that clubs should not impose upon any manager any player that he does not want."

I'll probably be the only one who says this in amongst some predictable sniping but tis a shame for Newcastle. Mike Ashley is making a real mess of things and if he appoints Wise then I am fairly sure relegation is a near probability.
This place got a real lift when Keegan came back, it was noticeable. They should think very carefully about their new appointment!

Shearer should do what Ince did and cut his teeth in the lower leagues.
Moyes and Deschamps mentioned on the Beeb.

I cant stand Shearer, he is shit on MOTD, he just copies Hanson. This is the 2nd or 3rd chance he has had to walk into Newcastle as manager and he keeps bottling it even though he says he wants to manage them in the future. Shut up or put up Shearer

Shut up or put up Shearer I think he's very astute actually. Would you walk into the Newcastle job in the state it's been for the last 5 years?
