I think Platini and Blatter have a side bet going, as to who can say the most stupid and offensive thing ........ well it's either that or they're a pair of clueless muppets with some form of tourettes!! Probably both

Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool could be banned from the Champions League unless they clear off their massive debts. UEFA president Michel Platini wants all sides who are in the red to be prevented from entering Europe’s top competition. Platini is fed up that big clubs who are already millions in debt continue to splash out huge transfer fees signing new players. “I am not just talking about United and Chelsea, who got to last season’s Champions League final with a big debt, I am speaking in general. “We are also going to control the money received from TV rights and publicity through competing in European competitions.” And whilst Platini is butt-fucking about can he either re-name the tournament (something like "The European Debt Laden Champions, Runners Up, Has-Beens and How the Fuck Did You Qualify as 4th Placed Championship". Lets make it Champions only instead and the runners up, has beens and 4th plcers can partake in the UEFA cup. Hey before we know it the Champions League will mean more for winning the trophy rather than the guaranteed millions of Euros / Quids to the partaking sides. Maybe, with a single representative team (league winners) from each eligible Euro country those teams unable to win the league (and with less fixture congestion etc.) will find them selves better equipped and a more focussed approach to win their respective league titles. A true "Champions League" will generate just as much interest as in its current format, but with perhaps less TV money (unless it comes from home countries domestic TV rights), fwere games and more cudos to the eventual winners. The UEFA Cup will become a more meaningful and competative tournament too.

Platinti is a joke there is alot of teams abroad in debt, so why is he making out only the english ones. Because he hates the English and is jealous of the English games ability to attract the best player to the league. As for baning clubs for this as someone said that would leave Crewe to play in ECL and it's not just a problem in this country as Real Madrid, Barca, Inter, AC and Roma are all in debit so the impact would be bad for uefa as the likes of Sky would pull the plug on there contract as they would not be getting value for money. Let's face it we watch the ECL because of the quality of the teams playing would you watch if clubs from lower leagues where playing. Also remember not so long ago when it looked like Tranmere where going to win the League cup a few years back uefa said they would not allow them to compete in the uefa cup because they did not want a team who was in the Championship being relegated to the first devision playing in one of their compations. So it would be in there interests to do this.
