Have you ever thought how people winge about immigrants coming over and taking our jobs? The interesting thing is that we now outsource to those who don't, so Indians and those in the Philippines are taking our jobs when staying at home. You also think how many British people wouldn't be content in working in Burger King all their life and would spend their entire time switching between similar jobs, and also how we have the best foreign doctors in the NHS. I'm writing an essay on the spread of capitalism and globalisation at the moment and I'm realising those who complain about immigrants don't have a massively strong argument other than the overpopulation and the strain on our infrastructure.
Also, another interesting thing is that loads of Polish are going back home now as things have picked up over there since they joined the EU and we're losing cheap builders and stuff like that, which I doubt people are too happy about. Anyhow, thought I'd procrastinate and throw that lot out.

That and other issues such as overloading the NHS etc are my chief concern where immigration's concerned. Frankly, though if they're willing to come here, respect our laws, learn the language and get a job, they're welcome! (After all, getting a job at least helps support the NHS, unlike dole scroungers : There was an article on the BBC recently, where they went out to this one farm where 20 of the 21 farm hands were immigrant workers. They then went into the nearby town and asked at the dole office if anyone there would want to take a job on the farm: "Nah, don't fancy that kind of work." "I don't wanna work with a bunch of foreigners." "It's easier to stay on the dole." With people like that around, we still need immigrants

said programme was called "The poles are coming" i believe....
i agree with Neko, as long as immigrates are open to the culture they've chosen to enter...
.... cause its not good for the EU that Poland now has a labour shortage lol

This country needs immigration but it needs to be a lot more controlled. Agreed but no one is prepared to make the stand for fear of being branded a racist. The only person to ever really speak out was Powell and he lost his job as a result. And if you actually read the text it was in no way prejudice. Love him or loathehim he was a great statesman, and what he has predicted has happened. The firm rooted problem is that the majority of the unemployed English don't want to work and it's a historic issue. Otherwise there would not have been people comming here in their masses from the 50's onwards

Otherwise there would not have been people comming here in their masses from the 50's onwards I agree. The foreign guys want to work. I know a few mates who work down Southampton Docks where the Polish are there in force and I remember them telling me some of them have at least 2 jobs on the go. They will finish a 12 hour nightshift as a driver or something then go and get ready for a shift in the day somewhere else! Puts some of the lazy fuckers in this country to shame. But I guess if some people are stuck in a rut and happy to pick up their benefits regularly and sponge, they will never have the motivation to work. Its fair game if you ask me.

The average Polish monthly wage is £300, so they come here and are on cloud nine. Lots of them work solid for five years and go home and build a house.
Not a good thing as their earning don't go back into our economy and thats wrong if you ask me, still they've paid their tax and NI so you can't tell how to spend their dosh.
The other real issue is the people who work on the black, however its the emploters who need to be fined!
