So Boris has launched his campaign for mayor. He want to improve transport in London. FFS when are you Londoners going to enter the real world? Having a tube, bus, train running every 30 seconds not good enough for you? No. We should be getting one every 20 seconds! To be honest, I actually think the transport system is good. A tad pricey though.

It's obviously an issue he thinks he needs to campaign on though so he must be getting support from somewhere!!

It's obviously and issue he thinks he needs to campaign on though so he must be getting support from somewhere!! He's either trying to keep up with Ken. OR - making political capital out of the Metronet Fiasco, even though Ken never wanted to use that cavalcade of shysters! Plus it's not bad timing as there's a tube strike for the next 3 days from 6pm, so people will be sitting around going "crikey guv'nor this transport system's worse than 'er indoors! Ken's 'avin a larf!" (as we do)

Here we go again!
How can you defend such a shyster of a man, transport is OK in London. It should however be made more affordable, something Ken has promised however if you don't have an oaster card you get financially raped.

Typically, a train ride in mainland Europe over a given distance will be faster than in the UK and about half the price, and I'm sure I read somewhere that riding the underground in Paris generally costs about 50p for the journey. First Capital Connect charge £7.80 for an off-peak single to one or two miles up the track - literally a one minute journey!

Seriously you should thank your lucky stars. First Bus in Sheffield have increased their bus fares 6 times in the last year and reduced bus services. My bus into the city centre has been amalamated with two other bus route so it now takes 50 minutes to get into town when it's only a 15 minute drive. It's also £4 return when it used to be £1.20 each way last year.
The bus drivers are now mainly Eastern European and cannot read the road signs. This is not encoraging people to use public transport.
It makes me pig sick to listen to Londoners bleating on about their transport concerns.

How's he going to reduce fares? No private company will operate the routes under a certain level, is Boris going to take London Transport back into state ownership? I don't chuffin think so lol!

The last time I got a bus in Sheffield I felt like I'd been mugged .......... it may have worked out cheaper to have got a taxi!!

It is actually cheaper for me to park the car in town than it is to get then bus. I never thought that would be the case.

Naturally! There should be severe penalty clauses in place for non performance, this would make them perform

Naturally! There should be severe penalty clauses in place for non performance, this would make them perform Indeed, profits are essential to private enterprise. Why exactly do people think I support SERVICES being provided by the STATE?! Yes maybe. Not a bad idea Hurls, if it can be implemented. A worthy alternative strategy to state ownership.

Hurls knows best ;D Seriously though, these companies where privatised because the state couldn't deal with them properly. It's a well known fact that this is why railways where sold. They had not been maintained and would have been a huge financial burden to put right. No government will want to take this responsability back

I thought the railways were sold off just to piss the Left off! I dunno, if it's a service, to me that means "not for profit" - extends also to health and education, and arguably public transport SHOULD be alongside. Also frankly if they can provide this service elsewhere in Europe, why not here?

And as for when the announcer says it's been delayed by two minutes? You'd think he said two hours!
