So much for security concerns in South Africa. C&P link. au.fourfourtwo.com/news/65746,footballer-murder-haunts-draw.aspx Nothing to worry about according to Bleater. I guarantee there will be a huge police presence in 2010 but that there will still be some unfortunate incident happening to some fans. Law & order is a joke in many urban areas.

In a country where you can legally have whatever form of car alarm you like (including flamethrowers on the bottom of your car) in order to act as a deterrant to any would-be thieves/car-jackers, you know there's a policing problem.
They can get the extra bodies in for the World Cup? Well why not before that, to try to resolve/cut down the problem sooner? Prevention beats protection!
No, I'm afraid I'm not gonna be flying out there in 2010...

No chance for Wales despite Bale & Ledley emerging(Ledley off to a Premiership club soon).
Germany will top the group. Toni Kroos will become their new star. Russia with a maturing group of kids will take the playoff spot & Finland under Hodgson are a tough nut to crack.
3rd at best.

It's all a bit confusing really. Why can't they just make it simple! I have to agree! It's pretty amazing when you can think that England will progress as one of the 13 best sides in Europe having played Croatia, Belarus, Kazakstan, Ukraine and Andorra. Much prefer the South American way and it's all one group (would split Europe into 2 groups play each other once) with top 4 from both groups qualifying automatically - then say those in positions 5-9/10 in each group playing off against each other. That way at least we can say the best 13 in Europe are going to the WC Finals. Whilst it means much more international football it might mean after 23 or 24 odd games (over 4 years ain't many) that we've a team / manager with tactics to match any opposition, a sense of team spirit, some consistency and it does away with meaningless friendlies to fulfill International football fixture calendars!

South America do their qualifying tournaments over 4 years as they all qualify automatically for the Copa America, so 4 years are available. Europe would be fitting in 24 games in 2 years instead, to be followed then by qualifying for the Euros. Can't see that one happening personally.
