Ah, maths coursework. I remember my GCSE Maths coursework... ...it was a crappy 'use a formula to work out a pattern' style exercise. I remember I spent 2 whole hours one afternoon trying to work out why the hell my formula wasn't working for one particular pattern... ...then I realised somewhere along the line I'd written 100 x 100 = 1000... Having said that, I'd rather do that simple shite again than do what I had to do last weekend. Two essays for my Contemporary History degree - one 2,500 words long on "Describe the historiography of the study of Bretton Woods and the origins of the International Monetary Fund" and the other 2,000 words long on "Discuss whether the start of WWI was a 'major event with minor causes'." (i.e. fun fun fun). I didn't finish until 20:20 on Sunday evening, so I missed almost the whole of the Masters Snooker final...

I get the Maths and stuff, it's just, I don't get the point of it! If you get what I mean? Yeah, I know what you mean. It was so labourious. I did Food Technology and that was the same. I took Media Studies, and it is kind of pointless, but enjoyable. There's a load of essays with it, but at least it actually has some sort of meaning.

I did A-Level Media Studies, and I have to admit, most of the time I sat there thinking "no, this magazine cover isn't making me think that there's tension between this person and this organisation based on the theory of binary opposites in the form of black and white signifying an overall narrative structure of conflict... ...it's a photo of a Newcastle player..." ;D ;D ;D Lol!!! To me, much of Media theory is largely balls but you can pretend to read into every bloody detail and interpret it. "Yes, this white colour clearly signifies light, a bright future, cleanliness, hope..." ...a Leeds shirt means none of those things. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Shouldn't have said that on this board, eh... ;D

Sounds familiar, not sure if it was the same thing, but it involved grids and squares... Lol! History is a 'real' subject! I like that! Most people never use what they learn in maths... ...although having said that, my bro says history is largely pointless too! Lol!

Maths coursework in Year 10 involved having a fence 1000m long and then finding out what shape produced would enlose the largest area. Then deriving a formula for working out he area from the number of sides of the shape produced
Year 11 was making a number grid, enclosing 5 numbers in a T shape, then finding a formula for the sum of them based on the number at the bottom of the T. Then had to look at rotating, enlarging etc. the T and finding formulae for the total after that.

I think History's one of the most important subjects learning from mistakes and all that...
