My 10, I can't be bothered to check all the dates, I suspect 1 or 2 may be from 2006, but I saw all these for the first time in 2007, some at the cinema, some on dvd. I don't think I went to the cinema 10 times this year. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) 1. Babel 2. The Last King of Scotland 3. El Labyrinto del Fauno 4. The Bourne Ultimatum 5. American Gangster 6. The Simpsons Movie 7. Letters from Iwo Jima 8. Oceans 13 9. Children of Men 10. 28 Weeks Later

Hmmm maybe Hot Fuzz shouls be in place over 28 Weeks Later, I don't know.

You know what you're getting with the Ocean's films. Considering Oceans 12 was so so so bad, I thought Oceans 13, whilst not as good as the original redeemed the series quite well. It was alright. As for Babel, some of the connections are indeed a little tenuous, and perhaps there isn't enough of a narrative to bring it all together in a way one would like. That probably helps it in a way though, illustrating the messiness of life. But I think the film is about much more than that. In essence, I suppose - communication and culture. People separated by distance, culture, language, wealth etc but brought together by the emotions they experience and common humanity. At the heart of each episode is just another human being and it work very well imo. I think it forces people to look at how they view the world, showing how connected people are, that the common human things we have in common bind us together far greater than the many, superficial differences, and that good and evil are present in all situations. The soundtrack is superb also. Agree to differ? I watched this at uni with some mates. Those of us doing geography, english, theology and the like loved it, while those doing more scientific subjects couldn't see the point at all which I found quite interesting.

Fair enough Ash. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I just thought it was a cynical piece of "this is so worthy" Oscar whoring. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Children of Men 10. 28 Weeks Later Out of those in no particular order Pans Labyrinth Letters From Iwo Jima (absolute great of the future) . Add the following five: Disturbia , In The Land Of Women (Brody excels again), Zodiac (excellent portrayal of a murder investigation )Sunshine (SF classic) Goyas Ghosts ( Portman is a side order in this the film is stolen by Javier Bardem as Brother Lorenzo) .
