Seen it, and it is a good film but probably one of the most racist films you will see.... Yeah I'm not sure if I'll like it. Saying that England is racist skinheads, and in a way getting you to personalise with them, not keen on that shit. From what I gather Lucas, it appears to be quite the opposite. From all the reviews and interviews I've read and heard, it seems to be a celebration of everything the skinhead culture represented before it was targeted and tainted by the nationalism movement. Prior to the National Front, the skinhead culture was a very much one that embraced difference; reggae was hugely popular, and The Specials were very much the group of choice. The director grew up as a skinhead and remembers this time with warmth, and the film is both a celebration of that psyche, and a lament of what was lost with the intrusion of nationalism.

Going to see this tonight if I can be arsed. Either that or 'Magicians' Magicians is meant to be a little 'hit and miss' and gentle in comparison to Peep Show, GT. Whereas I could more or less guarantee you'll love This Is England.

28 Weeks Later is also tempting but I don't know how long they will be showing This Is England here for so I'll save that for next week

Very good film. Quality performance from that young kid - who I believe had quite a difficult time when making the film due to his mum dying.

28 weeks later is very worth watching - very grim, very graphic and very disturbing (and a film who's manifesto appears to be 'thou shalt not use a steadicam under any circumstances') but superbly well done. despite a couple of massive plot holes.
